I can achieve this in just 3 hours with Autodesk Maya 2012.

Im pretty new to 3DS max, which is why it took so long for me, it wasnt learning the techniques either, it was just spending the time to make it perfect.

+Its my 3rd gun model so far

Now sure how this benefits the OP, anyway :

The model looks good, maybe a nice detailed material would be nice. Are you planning on making a high poly version? It looks like the SCAR-H Rifle :P

Good for you, but do you know how to not be an ***?

I thought the model looked awesome. If you release it for free, I would like to use it.

The model looks good, though you should focus a bit on how to place the faces: The details on the magazine can easily be done with a normal map, while the sights look pretty low-poly when aimed down Other than that, looks cool!

                  Maya has better modeling tools.
                  Use Maya.

A tip. Quit being an ***. You're not posting constructive criticism or feedback, you're just being a troll.. and please don't start that **** Max vs Maya debate. Get over yourself.

On Topic; The model looks great, I'd be curious to know the poly count though. The texture is ok but looks as though it could still use a little work to make it really 'pop'. Keep at it.

It looks really cool! With a little more detail, you could use this to bake a normal map and make a low poly version to be used in UDK
It looks quite high poly to me. Great job

Thanks for all the fantastic comments guys Really motivates me.

As for ryan commodore, i was using Maya for awhile, until i decided to switch to 3DS max as i was finding it harder to animate with Maya, I just prefer Max, nothing personal on it :P

Il work on the texturing more, it looks low textured because its a lower quality model in the viewport i think.

                        Back to work

I agree, such a debate is a waste of everyones time.
Also, in regards to the model, maybe its just me but, i think the texture should be re-done with a larger and more detailed map, it seems as though it was poorly hand-panted on a 256x256 canvas with quite abit of noise (which may be the reason for the sloppy view when looking down the sights.) and only being saved by the ao. But it may just be the screenshots, hell, i dunno. Also, one other thing, you can save a lot of tris on the mag.

EDIT: how many polys by the way?

Thanks for your opinion mafiadude, in response to your thing on the Texture, it looks worse in the pictures due to it being low quality on the viewport, its alot higher Res and quality when rendered, il post some rendered pictures later of the weapon.

P.S This model has 11,357 Polys and 6,140 Verts :P

UPDATE: New HQ pictures on the first page.

This should answer your questions on the texture quality, mafiadude
