    Fun With Guns: An Old School Shooter


    *name my change

    Compatibility: PC

    Description: Inspired by the gameplay of old school arena shooters such as: The Unreal Tournament games (all versions), Quake, Nexuiz, Warsow. Multiplayer only, no vehicles. DM, TDM, CTF, and hopefully some kind of control point gametype included. Old school gameplay, new school game engine, graphics included.

    Overall game theme: kill everyone, except your team mates

        Yeah the shotgun and RL look great! I think the AR and the sniper could use some revampage.. Where are we on concepts for level design?

            thanks, down the road there may be some "alien weapons" incorporated. The goal is to make something a little different than Quake or Unreal Tournament which is why I have only been making somewhat realistic weapons.

            Phedex: the sniper looks good in game, the texture will def get some tweaking. The assault needs some work all around. Concepts for level design will come soon, we are just getting started but I do know that generic stuff like barrels, lights, beams, railings, etc will definitely be needed. Do you have UT3? If so you should check out some of these maps: http://holp.beyondunreal.com/ which will be the "style" we are using. woooo made some of those maps.

                Nice link! The guy Horences makes great tutorials - I've learned everything I know about UDK from him.. As far as props go, I'd be able to start creating them once I know what the style of our game is, as in theme and overall direction.

                      well I'm into the dirty urban atmospheres. Did you say you have UT3? I'm thinking about recreating this map in UDK as CTF:

                      This is not to say all maps must be dirty and urban.

                      Obviously it will be quite different since I wont be using UT3 assets. It will probably be more BSP based also. I know for sure that I will need some shipping containers, railings, and floor grates for that.

                      LOL, I just started seriously learning 3ds max a little over a month ago. The first weapon I made, the sniper, took me awhile but with each one I am getting faster. To be more specific, if I use a concept photo I can make a rough model of a weapon in a couple hours. Real life weapons being much easier than sci fi.

                        Ah yep sorry, I do have UDK - That map looks great though and I should be able to start recreating those UDK assets with our own style soon enough.

                        Also, do we have a design document I could get a hold of?

                              im curious to where you want to go as in to urban terror, imo the game looks quite zz lol and movement etc, the core gameplay how fast the pace is etc.. also i have an idea for a weapon maybe, maybe a grenade launcher like the one in ut2004 and the one in bulletstorm, primary throws a grenade which atatches and alt detonates
