Here is a quick video of the first corridor section and an early warehouse addon.
Please forgive the video being a bit dark - this is due to the video compression removing areas of low contrast. I tried multiple video compression codecs but couldn't find one that left the clarity intact. There are no fully black areas ingame as you'll see in post 1's pics.
Anyway, it's only a WIP and meant to give you an indication of what i'm after.
Good particle effects in the hall there, you have good layout design, not a lot of models, and not to many! So good stuff, keep it up! I'd like to see more. The bot swinging after you shot him made me laugh, wasn't expecting that. Good stuff man!
Looks alright so far, but I would seriously fix those lights hanging from the ceilings. Realisticly, even though the light is round it won't project only a circle of light. Blend the light evenly on the ceiling and on the upper walls to give a nice visual. Plus, for how bright the lights look, it's way to dark. *even in the photos*

Yeah i realise the corridor lighting isn't 100% realistic. I'll try and revisit this (again) and create a better blend on the walls etc. I may also try adding a few very low intensity point lights to overall brighten the corridor.
I've spent quite a while on lighting the corridor section and can't quite nail it... hopefully the next time i show it it'll look a bit more realistic.
all the building geometry and textures are mine... modeling and texturing is a part of the development process i actually enjoy the most.
Some of the static corridor assets like the barrels came from Dexsoft. I was originally going to use these just as placeholders, but to be honest, how else can you model a barrel so i will probably just revisit the textures and normal maps when i get all the warehouse geometry made.
My advice is try and search around for photo references about scary/horror environments and examine what scares us the most.
Usually a limited sight (unable to see far like Silent Hill) makes it scarier.
Although I know sound adds a lot but still you need to rework the building.

@Vald - thank you for the effort you have put in when replying, i appreciate it. All your images would be scary locations but they are all totally rundown and dilapidated. I'm not sure they would fit in with the other assets/locations i have made that haven't made it into UDK yet. The overall look of the locations i've made are 'dirty but still very usable'.
I still have geometry to add to both the corridor and the warehouse so i'll try a bit further to 'horror-it-up', plus try and make the lighting a bit more scary.
I think when the environment is complete with sound it'll be a whole different experience.
I'm really impressed. I like the mood of your video and the overall mood in your game with lighting. Looking forward to all your advances on it. Keep up the good work!
