    Default SkyFleet Studio - Recruiting to build Space Combat game

    SkyFleet Studio is looking for all levels of game developers out there to help build Starshooter, a futuristic space combat game. The studio is geared toward putting together an online team of people who are interested in working together to create a project to put into their personal portfolios.

    We are looking for concept artists, composers, sfx/Foley artists, 3D modelers, level designers, scripters, story writers, and anyone else interested in working as a team to build a great game.

    The project itself is designed to "grow" into a great game from a very simple starting point. It will start as a single-player game where the player pilots a starfighter (starts off immediately as a starfighter) and faces waves of enemy fighters. There are supposed to be large quantities of enemies so that the player never gets bored seeking out something to shoot at. Later, the project should include capital ships that, when the player destroys the enemy ships, are replaced with the player's own ships.     I realize I seem a little vague on the details, but my website contains lots of information about Starshooter as a game. Just know that SkyFleet Studio is non-profit. Starshooter is meant to be 1st/3rd person (toggle), fully 3D, and will have missions in space as well as within planetary atmospheres on alien worlds. The main goal of building the game is to create a space combat game unlike any before it. I want the player to not have to search for battles, but for the action to simple enshroud him/her all the time. There will be allies as well as enemies and capital ships that will pose threats to the fighters as well as to each other. The first mission is the focus and it will contain asteroids scattered throughout the map, aimlessly floating around and spinning. Imagine the player weaving through the asteroids as enemy fighters fly in formations in front of him, trying to kill him, trying to evade him, trying to take out the player's allies. Space is not empty in this game. It is filled with various threats and enemies galore.

    I update the site almost everyday with more information and have kept an eye on the site and its membership since the day I first built the site. I am determined to build Starshooter whether a team comes together or not; however, I would much prefer to have a team so that we can have more game-specific assets. I am no modeler, so I found 3D models to use as placeholders until I have a dedicated modeler to start building custom vehicles. I have been studying code snippets, tutorials, and wikis all concerning the UDK for the past three months almost all day everyday. I am no expert, but I will not give up. I have been working on Starshooter for the past year writing my own very simple engine in C++ with OpenGL. I have thus far learned that I am an excellent coder, but I would much rather spend more time on designing the game and writing down the rules, gameplay, and stories than spending the time constructing the game alone. I intend to put this project in my portfolio and to perhaps use it as part of my final project before graduating college. Of course, I think it would look much better if there was an entire team to add to the credits. Both for the look and for the prestige.

    So, I ask, is there anyone who is willing to dedicate time and effort into a project that may appear new but has spent a year in the making? Is there anyone who would find interest in working on a team with a leader who has plenty of documentation and only small ambitions to begin with? The project may seem difficult, but it is really only the beginning. And I know I can do it... I know whatever team I can build can do it. I am patient. I will be waiting. I will continue recruiting. I will continue scripting. In the meantime, think about joining us. It will be an experience worth the ride.

    Bumping. We have a couple of good guys working on the project diligently, but we still would like more help. We especially need artists and modelers. However, all help is appreciated.

    How high def are you trying to make your ships (if you don't already have a modeller), for i'd be interested in helping. I'm not the best modeller but i'm down to help.
