Default Matching Maya and UDK grids

    Hey everyone!

I'm going to start learning how to use Maya 2012 more (I've been using 3Ds Max 2012 so far), and I wanted to know how to get the grid set up the same as UDK's. When I made a 256x256x256 square in Maya, it was much bigger in UDK. Am I just missing something, or is there something I have to set up? Please lemme know

If I remember correctly. In UDK 16 UDK unit = 1 ft, and it is 1:1 ratio in Maya. In order to get the same unit as UDK, You can start with 32 in Subdivision which will give you exactly 16:1 as in UDK. Try Subdivisions = 32, 256, 256.

In the top menu go to Display --> Grid and click on the options box (the little square next to "Grid" and change the grid size there. I usually set Grid lines every 512 units and the subdivisions to 64, which makes every square on the grid equal 8 units, then adjust the length and width to a power of 2 that is at least 512. Increase that to get a larger grid with the same 8 unit per square option.

    I use
    256
    16
    1

that makes every grid line 1 foot in udk.
