    Default Kung Fu Superstar

    New News

A couple quiet months here, but not without reason.

Kung Fu Superstar is now up on Kickstarter!

    http://kck.st/YmpVQG

I'd appreciate it if you could take a look! We have worked very hard on it and are happy to share what we've accomplished so far. So take a look at the pitch video if you have the time and consider backing us if you'd like! Even if it's not your cup of tea, spreading the word and helping get the word out would be greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy.

    Old News

Not many of you know me since I spend more time reading the forums than I do posting, but I've been contributing to a project I find very exciting for the past few months. I originally heard about Kung Fu Superstar through a recruitment post in the "Got Skills? Looking for Talent?" section here and sent in an email. We've come a long way since then and some of our hard work is ready to show. It gives me great joy to present to you Kung Fu Superstar.

It's been a great experience doing the level design on this project so far. Got to meet and work with a great group of individuals. I was taking some beauty shots of the levels to start updating my portfolio with when I thought I would share them all with you, the UDK community. Without UDK this whole experience would have never happened for me.

If I take more screenshots or someone else on the team does then I'll update this thread with them. And again, a big thank you to all the people I have the honor of working with on the team. Hope you enjoy and spread the word about us!

Now thats a great idea!!! I really like the whole concept but why the characters are so way below in quality? they don't even match the quality of the animations...... anyway is still a really nice work, congrats.

Now this is the kind of thing the kinect should be used for! I hope you are able to make the controls tight and working well.

I have to agree with juguefre on the characters though.

You do not know or could comprehend the many levels of creativity you just placed into a cinematic. One of the first few people to surprise me on this forum, thank you.

    Thumbs up

Outrageous work. Two possible comments on this project between the image and the preview video:

    • Images: Love the 3D graphic design in the possible images, brilliant atmosphere, and brilliant quality. Good stuff.
    • Video: More like a cinematic trailer I'd always say. Like the protagonist's live-action/animation implementation (eventually an Asian guy), but way little unsatisfied about the characters and stuffs, some movements are either good or average for the kinect.

But anyway, work well done. This should keep it handy for your work.

I'd just to reiterate that I am not alone on this project so I can't take credit for everything that people have talked kindly about so far. Most everything people have been commenting on so far isn't my realm, actually. I'll certainly pass along the kind comments to the people that deserve them most in each regard though.

I can't really answer questions about concept and character design and such, but I'll see if the people that could might be able to come along and comment. Anything about the level design, implementation and such though and I'm your guy.

edit: Oh, and if there's any specific shots of the levels people would like to see or if someone would like a certain resolution for a wallpaper, post and let me know.

double edit: Also, the Facebook profile for KFS is the sort "official channel of information" for things, so keep an eye on that.

Thanks for the kind words and input. I´m the lead character concept artist and worked on the interface and on the character shaders to. It is a great journey. so far

As far as the characters go: We are in a very early pre alpha stage and are constantly refining things on the go. Given the tight deadline we had to face I think our character artists did and continue to do a great fine job.

    cheers

The concept is great, animation too Love the atmosphere / immersion & the audio track. The maps look damn nice. Indeed, it look like the Wing Chun style & it's great.

It remind me of ONI a tad, which was an awesome game !

Will advertise your trailer soon. THX for sharing

Stunning! If only I had a xbox ^^... and I wouldn't say the characters are bad. The comic style just doesen't fit in this great realistic environment...

Characters aren't too good than enviroment. BUT, I would play this game and love it. Better than many famous corps....

I don't think these characters are bad they are just made to look like anime/cartoon characters rather than realistic humans, but the main character is of lower quality than the others, maybe he is still using a concept model? The mais character made me remember of the game Mini Ninjas.

    @Fi5h1fishy
I wasn't the one who created the assets, so I couldn't say for certain. One of the environment artists browses these forums though so he might comment.

And thanks for all the kind words on the project, everyone. We appreciate it.
