Default Will the gears of war books be a good read?

Just purchased the first 4 books from Amazon with the 5th preordered on release.

Just wondering what they are like and if you guys think they are a good read? i generally don;t read that much anymore apart from the odd rock magazine i get.

Played all three games several times and love the storyline..hope the books are as good

I read occasionally, but I have to have an interest in the subject/universe before I can get into a book. So from that point of view, they are definitly a good read. They are very "moreish" It's hard to put them down once you have started. Very well written as well.

I've read them all and I'm halfway through the 5th.

I read ALOT and i honestly thought they were great, they really expand on the universe and on the characters. My personal favourites where Coalitions End and the flashbacks in Anvil Gate. Also at times the books are better then the games, mostly because they are all story. But ya i think you will have a fun time reading them.

I'm on Coalition's End and so far they have all been great. As others stated they have the chance to take you further in the story and the characters, which is great. Great books man. Hard part is finding time between the wife and kids to keep reading. They are hard to put down once you start. Enjoy bud!

I think they are great. You get a lot of background info that gives you a better picture of who the characters truely are.

I've got all the books so far apart from The Slab. I'm not a massive reader but when the Gears books came out I wanted to learn more about the planet of Sera, the story and other background information so I read the books, and I have to say they're a great read and it gives us a lot more information and reveals quite a lot about the background story that you don't get from just playing the game.
Dom: You hear that? What was that?
    Marcus: It's just the wind
Dom: When's the last time the wind said "Hostiles" to you?

They are good; read em all. One thing to note: these are NOT action books - far from it. These are completely about characters, and as such, some may find them 'slow paced.' I didn't myself, but just saying
Epic: thank you for a great run!!!!! and I forgive you for Judgment!!!!
