    Default [BETA WIP] Darkstalkers (1-29: 6 models so far)

    I've been working on these same 3 models for a year now, being delayed by Blender features really.

    I'm nearly done with them finally since Blender 2.61's weighting isn't bad so I was able to correct a lot of anomalies.

    Lei-Lei
    MY LEG (Ballistic)
    MY CLAWS (ChaosUT2)

    Also I may request that you don't post screenshots in the quotes (as I know some people will reply by quoting a post), thanks. I'd like to keep the thread managed in bandwidth usage.

    I'll release a beta soon, probably a bit reduced in texture detail to keep the size down as it's functionality I want to test.

    She looks well done. Somewhat reminds me of the "pionpi" monsters from super mario land.

    But... why is her face covered with that inscripted band? I'd really like to see more of her face.

    I am willing to test her thorougly and make sure there is no mod that she has trouble with (with ChaosUT you already picked off a large troublemaker for custom models ).

    Perfect! I like Lei-Lei's motivative look, the model of her just like the concept art. Hope you find the 4-team skin support for her. Keep it going.

    OMG, that's a perfect Lei-Lei right there! well done, she was my favourite Darkstalkers character.
    Great work on Lilith too, only pic 1 seemed kind of odd, but I blame that to the awkward poses ut2004 forces on external models. More detailed textures may help, but if it is like that by design (how anime-like you want them to be) it's ok. Good job.

    (How about some Felicia and Morrigan in the future? :P)

    Good news! I was able to import an animation.

    Bad news! It was hard to make as the imported skeleton didn't have connected bones, so I had to manually rotate each bone without the help of any IK.

    She really needs to have a smaller skeleton though I can't figure out how to pull that off in Blender because i'd have to alter all the animations as well :S

    i'm mad noob, but as far as i understand from my trial and error, if you don't want to alter animations, then keep the skeleton intact & scale her up to proportionally to the skeleton. once you have imported the finished psk file, you can scale the mesh, skeleton, & animations down (Mesh tab, Mesh, Scale, reduce X,Y,Z values equally), then adjust her translation closer to the floor (Translation, increase Z value), as well as her vehicle driving animation slightly higher (enable view bounds button, double click Vehicle_Driving, should change the tab to Sequence, Adjust, add some Z value). I'm not sure if this is the definitive way of dealing with shorter characters, but worked for Charmy Bee & Vector. Just discovered this stuff 4 days ago..No idea on how to alter the hitbox or centers, but i'm assuming they can't be changed.

    I did actually shrink her.

    The mutator is called DamagePopup IIRC


    I've already started modeling the next darkstalker. He'll be revealed once there's a texture.

    oh , did you use the method i mentioned? or did you figure out a better way to shrink?

    I've made some changes to Lei-Lei's legs to make her skirt double-sided, and weighted more carefully for less clipping.

    I also tried to fix up her arms so they deform better. Cleaned up the skin a bit, which means i'd have to refresh the team skins again

    Even with errors, I still consider my model better than MVC3's, because I don't make those terrible mistakes :P apologies to those who like the terrible mvc3 models (and no, i'm not going to convert anything)

    Still gotta reskin Felicia and get her on the male Skaarj skeleton due to her rather Bengus physique, and then fix up morrigan's alpha hair and arms, and maybe, MAYBE there'll be the beta release of all 6 girls!

    anyway, looking forward to that beta release!

    you still planning on giving BB Hood a soundpack? That duke nukem cat thingy voicepack(I forgot the actual name) fits her me thinks, although yeah the 'lalalala' from before should still work

    EDIT: is it just me or does lei-lei look a bit greenish on the pic? Or is it just lighting?
