More jungle assets have been added. The jungle package is now almost complete with over 40 assets. So lots of diversity there.
If there is time and we feel like it, there will be alot more to really give a unique feel to every part of the jungle.

Chronoshifts plans for this week: We have a big presentation on thursday so we want to make a teaser for the game. You can see it thursday night and we'll also upload the presentation itself.

Update on the website: We had a good talk with a guy from our team. He has a business of his own and he just doesn't have the time to do much for Chronoshift. We knew that he didn't have much time so he was responsible to set up a website for Chronoshift. The concept art for the website looks awesome but he can't finish that project fast enough for us. So the website will be up... but alot later than we wanted.

Tomorrow (Monday) we have another team meeting so alot of descisions and updates will be made but...
School was kinda mad at us for not doing any of the assignments so this week will be low on updates because school actually slows us down. Too bad they don't support us that much.

As always: stay tuned for updates because i can't resist working on Chronoshift

    Hello Community!

We reached a point in our game creation that we need to start thinking about dialog and voice acting.
Now here's the problem: The entire Chronoshift team speaks english but doesn't have a good english accent.

    request:
Is there anyone that wants to do some voice acting for us?
You do have to have a good english accent.

    Regards,
    Carsten

You can always try with mediocre equipement. Maybe the mic in your laptop, if you have one, is better then you think. Give it a shot, and maybe we can work something out

    Dear community,

I'm working with a team on a game called Chronoshift. It's a school project but we really want to make it the best game we can.

I would like you to visit our Work In Progress page: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/816764-Chronoshift

And then fill out our survey: http://www.thesistools.com/web/?id=221812 (It will take 2 minutes)

It would mean alot to us because we really want to know what the community thinks of the game so far.

    Thank you all for helping!

The main menu will be made alot nicer. It allready has alot of animation and camera action so you guys will like it!

A new video showing it all will be uploaded soon!

The menu is looking good, how hard is it using Scaleform? Also what are those boxes in the menu going to be?

Small tip, add the links to your videos in the post, people are lazy and this will lead to more views!

    Hey Archerx,

Scaleform turned out to be fairly easy. All it is is flash. So if you are experienced with flash and actionscript it's basically a breeze.
The boxes are going to be our characters You can choose to play which of the three characters you want to play.

Wow, It's been a while huh...

I'm sad to say that progress is insanely slow because of school. We have to make documentation for education purposes and since we're only a 4-man team; we can't do the Chronoshift work like we want to.

Here's a small update to keep your eyes busy

In other news: The Phantom is ALMOST done. You can expect to see the first main character very soon.
A Drifter is also well on it's way.

Next week Thursday (December 22) two of our guys are going to make the first level: The Jungle.

And for now: Back to schoolwork!

I just saw your Main Menu vid, now I assume it's Canvas, right? Now how have you made it? (Only some hints, no long description needed)

The in game HUD is also going to be Scaleform.

It is now made using canvas for testing purposes.

You can use this tutorial to make it:

    Hello community!

I'm doing a research about Artificial Intelligence in games and i was wondering if you all could answer a few questions for me.

If you do not want to answer all the questions please answer only this one: Would you like to see more documentation about Artificial Intelligence? A few tutorials perhaps?

1 - How often do you play games?

2 - Do you ever think the Artificial Intelligence in a game is really dumb? What game was this in and what happened?

3 - What basic functionalities do you think are necessary in a game to make it challenging?

4 - Does Artificial Intelligence in games in general need to improve?

5 - Have you ever programmed Artificial Intelligence for a game? (if no: skip) Did you stumble upon any problems? What were those problems?

6 - Would you like to see more documentation about Artificial Intelligence? A few tutorials perhaps? <- Important

This concludes this survey. I would like to thank you all in advance for helping me with my research

    1 - About 3 times/week, mainly on weekends (many hours )

2 - Oblivion sometimes, when enemies follow the player into traps or deadly areas ... at all, some games have AI running into walls between them and the player, some have AI screwing the animations/doing the homo dance... I can't mind any good examples though :S

3 - Boss enemies ... complex gameplay mechanics - easy to learn, hard to master ... decisions - it's always hard to make decisions, especially when they have a big impact

4 - Yes, in terms of AI using tactics/strategies

    5 - ...

6 - Something about friendly AI helping you (supporting you/showing you how to do sth, e.g. in a Jump&Run) or complex AI with more than two parties, having them to decide based on different variables who/how to attack/help each team

Also, for everyone who wanted to participate in the teaser as a Voice-actor, but didn't make the cut, or sent in his submission too late: We need new voices for the ingame dialogues.

If you want to give it a try, by recording any of these lines here.

You can send in your submission in the next few weeks to chronoshiftgame@gmail.com, or private message me or Carsten for other arragements.

1 - How often do you play games?
Pretty much everyday, even if it's just 20 minutes of Final Fight to relax from work.

2 - Do you ever think the Artificial Intelligence in a game is really dumb? What game was this in and what happened?
Yeah sometimes. Right now I remember some things that happens when I play Left 4 Dead. Like , if a zombie is running to attack me and I'm close to something the zombie could climb on (like a car, for example) sometimes the zombie starts to climb it instead of attacking me.

3 - What basic functionalities do you think are necessary in a game to make it challenging?
I think that games gotta have 'critical' points. Like, the game is the same difficult overall, and then you face something that will rly test your skills. That could be a certain quest or part of it, or as HavocInferno pointed out, Bosses. One thing I liked from L4D was their stress system. It would calculate how much streets the players are under and then make the hordes of zombies take a break for a while. When the players are recovered from the stress it would start all over again. It was interesting bc one match was never like the other. The removed that from L4D 2 and the game became predictable, kinda boring.

4 - Does Artificial Intelligence in games in general need to improve?
There's always something to improve in general.

5 - Have you ever programmed Artificial Intelligence for a game? (if no: skip) Did you stumble upon any problems? What were those problems?
I haven't personally but I'm following the steps of the scripter of our game, and the most difficult part for him to solve is the AI. It's kinda hard to make the enemies behave as we want, and most of the time the AI is fine but some annoying bugs happen. In our case, the enemies are supposed to come for you to attack with punches if they see you. Sometimes during the fight, they lose your sight, then they simply freeze and don't move, unless you walk infront of them so they can see you again. We are trying to find a way where they will try to locate you if they lose your sight, or make a kind of hear system, where they could 'hear' you and then go after you. The other hard part is to make several functions of the AI work together, without one bugging the other.

6 - Would you like to see more documentation about Artificial Intelligence? A few tutorials perhaps? <- Important
    Hell yeah!
