Default Gears of War Birthday Cake

Wow it's been a Year or so since I last posted on this Site and this perticular Thread. But I thought i'd share something truly amazing with you guys.

I had my Birthday 2 months ago and 2 friends of mine decided to make me a "Gears of War" Birthday Cake.

Jamie was the one who Sculpted and Painted the Lancer that was placed ontop of the Cake. But Dav was the one who Baked, Sculpted and Airbrushed the Cake itself. Let's just say it was a very Gearsy Birthday indeed. Here is a link to all 3 Images and to there Deviant Art Pages. And BTW the Cake was very tasty.

    The Artist's:

    David and Jamie: http://highborntalon.deviantart.com/

    David Arenault: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...011994&ref=sgm

    Jamie Gervais: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/...ervais?ref=sgm

Zenith (Which is me) is not Crotale's alt account. And this Cake isn't Photoshoped. Only the background in the first image is Photoshoped.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments i'll make sure they are seen by the people who did this amazing Cake.

I just had to update this Thread with a link to the real creators of this cake. Thanks again all and especially you Flak for showing so many people this wonderful cake by adding it to you're facebook and twitter pages. :> And no "Addnan" the Lancer wasn't edible. It did however come with a stand so once the cake was eaten it went on my mantel.

That is such an awesome cake.

If it was for a little kid they would just scream "GEARS CAKE" and then om nom nom nom it, unable to appreciate the beauty of splendor of this magnificent pastry.

    Oh, that's messed up.

I asked Publix to make me a Gears' cake and they said it wouldn't be possible due to copyright issues. :Rage:

Default Maker of the Sculpey Lancer ...

Thanks so much for the comments, everyone! It was an amazing adventure. Dave is the chef/baker and I'm the artist.

The Lancer was made of Super Sculpey with an armature wire skeleton. Took me approximately 12 hrs to complete (1.25 days all in one). I painted it with acrylics using my airbrush and regular brushes. I'm a painter so sculpture isn't my usual medium. I wanted to make it out of something that would last as a little souvenir so I also made him a little base and covered it in Micaceous Iron Oxide ( crushed dark gray Hematite stone acrylic paint ). It looks like a little rock with the Gears logo on it.

Dave constructed the cake as a normal circle with foamcore supports and a layer of fondant covering the cake. The surface was beaten for the 'battle-scarred" look and then painted entirely with food dye using an airbrush. The Gears logo was stencilled on and the blood spray was made from candied sugar and dye.

It was a trememdous cake - probably our best yet although his Alien head cake ( yes, the James Cameron Aliens ) still blows my mind.

Well, it would be a matter of location due to the extremely delicate and perishable nature of the cakes. If you were located in Vancouver BC we could manage a quote. $$$ depends - time, materials, design - all of this is included when pricing a custom cake.

Oh my god - it's the return of Zenith.... and he brought cake!?

The Cake looks fantastic!? I can't even imagine how someone would go about doing that... I mean, it's literally the most Gear-head Cake I've ever seen. One hell of a piece there brah. And is that Lancer - oh my god!?
I'll check in every now and again but for the most part, I won't be as active as I was previously. It really was the Gears + people that got me posting on here in the first place. Unless Epic release an awesome game or something. I'm leaving this message because I'm obviously a very, very important person.

Hope to see a lot of you on the BT Forums! - 11/02/2014 (lol)
