Default Low sensitivity or high sensitivity?

I have been reading up on different ways people play FPS. Some people play with Low sensitivity where they use there arm to make fast turns. Others play high sensitivity where they either use there fingertips with wrist pad underneath so palm not on mouse, or they palm mouse instead.

I personally use high sensitivity and palm mouse at 8.3cm/360, but thinking of trying something different. Curious to know what some of the really good players do.

Most pro's I've encountered use low sensitivity. Old rule I used was that you should be able to turn 180 degrees going from edge to edge of your mouse pad.

^^^ It really is frightening how fast he can spin.

I use lower than most, 16 inches (45cm) mouse movement turns 360deg.

I'd say lowish but it means nothin tbh. Change the thread/poll like this :

How many cm to do 180 or 360. Put the poll like:5cm,10cm or smtng like that.

My low could be high for others.

In general a low sens can give u more control. better aim. better chance to combo etc. Too low can get u an easy pray in short range fights. High sens guys should try to lower sens little by little. Big sens changes might be a hard thing to do.

I use mostly fingertips cause of my mouse. G9 is kinda small so fingertips -i think- are better. With bigger mice its fingers again but palm too(a bit). Its how u like it the most. How it feels better to u tbh.

I have an MX518, so I vary my DPI at times. I set it to 1600dpi, then I set it to a sensitivity on the lower end. It still moves fast though. Not nearly the "180 end to end" thing. I think that's bull crap honestly. There are pros on both ends of the spectrum. Why do what doesn't work for you? I have a bansheepad and it's so smooth I can use relatively high sensitivity and still be plenty accurate.

Besides, UT3 doesn't allow you to be nearly as accurate as you could be in UT2k4.

Actually it depends on you... I used to have my mouse sensitivity set to 10 long ago... now it's 0.95 in UT and both did good just you need to get used to the speed of it.

...and I love how people are listing their in-game sensitivity number, when it means absolutely nothing. It changes based on a bunch of factors like mouse DPI, drivers, acceleration on/off, etc...

As this guy said, please list distance per 180/360deg rotation. It's relatively easy to measure and the only definitive number you can get.

    12,5cm / 360° for me.

I guess that's medium/high sens. It's enough that I can do a 360 with my wrist so I don't need to move my arm or raise the mouse from pad, but still low enough that I can still aim fairly accurately.

I have mx518, and I keep it at 1600dpi, with ingame sens of 700. I have a keybind for sniper that drops the sens to 500 and fov to 80 which gives much better aim, but it's hard to adjust to sens change fast, and I rarely snipe.

Oh, and I play with my palm on mouse most of the time, but when I'm sniping I use fingertips.

I use a medium sensitivity. I can do a 360 degree turn with about 6 inches of movement. If I try to use too high of a sensitivity my aiming is irratic meaning I'm aiming all over the place while trying to hit something. If I have it set too low, I have to pick my mouse off my desk and move it over to continue to spin around. This seems to be a happy medium for me.

I have an old non-pro logitec mouse. " buttons and a wheel.
    I use 6000 mouse sensitivity.
This way i can keep my arm in the same positivion and only move my hand from left to right and turn at least 180 degrees.
For my type of gaming it fits the best.

Well I measured my sensitivity today:
    4cm/360°
I guess mine is really high O.o Twitch Twitch

I usually go between 4-6cm, depending on the game and the amount of control the game allows.

only one person did "...and I love how people"?

    On Topic:
    450DPI/Death Adder/semi finger tips semi palm(weird to explain)/ 13 inchs=360°

i used to do what Infra said, whole mousepad=180° but that tends not to work in ut3, for me anyway.

YES! That's the one. Very important, and often overlooked. If you don't uncheck this, you will never be consistent, bacause the OS tries to "help" you with your mouse movement. This little tip helped my game a lot. And of course, turning my mouse sensitivity way down.

I used to be high sens at about 10cm/360 and I've played with that for many years, but I've recently changed to about 23cm/360 (clip 1, 2) simply because it put less strain on my hand. It took me a while to get used to, and I may not be as fast as before, but my hits seem to be more consistent and accurate now.

There is an article over at ESReality that relates to this topic, it has some good info regarding mouse dpi, gaming resolution, and such.

    0.7cm sniper ftw

If you're using vista, unchecking 'enhance point precision' doesn't completely remove acceleration IIRC. You have to patch a kernel file because there's still some acceleration built into the OS. I'm too lazy to fetch the DL link atm.

I'm also part of the low sens crowd. I used to play on high sens but I couldn't hit a single combo, my efficiency is much higher now (at around 10in/360) and I use my arm when needed to make quick turns.

It's what you're comfortable with really, there are really good players on both ends of the spectrum.

I would suggest you find the best players you can, and ask them what they use. Asking a group of random people will get you... surprise, a slightly random answer You wouldn't ask someone on the streets of a city for advice on [insert specific subject], they wouldn't know jack, but amazingly probably will give you their opinion. There are plenty of people with opinions, very few of them are actually any good.

I think this is more of a general poll rather than a "let's find all the leet players and see what they use so I can be like them" thread.

There are a number of really good players here in this thread. I'm surprised to see how high a sensitivity some of them use.

I beg to differ. From the first post.

And rather than be coy I'll just say it: I've yet to meet a good player who doesn't have relatively low sensitivity. I mean a GOOD player, not a pub allstar.
