    Chong Lee, feels really nice so far. Its surprising just how perfectly the origonal proportions workwith UT3's movement. I was able to make all the double jumps I wanted in place of strafes. The doors worked really well throughout (didnt get bugged while I was playing anyway). Absolutely blistering performance, as you'd expect with your process. The only thing I would advise to change is to exchange the Big O' Keg ofhealth for the shieldbelt, its general DM etiquette. Looking forward to this one progressing.

    The doors are buggy and I am looking for solutions. I will test to see if it's still there when the new patch is released.
    Also I'd like to try quake live. The screenshots look very nice. Hopefully it can inspire me a lot. As for the mega health, yes maybe a belt is better, let me think about it.

    I am currently working on my Favorite two maps for Quake 1.

    Quake 1 DM 1 Place of Two Deaths and Q1 DM 6 Dark-Place =)

    Q1 place of two deaths is currently in beta stage and is fully playable and there is a ton of kismit in the map.

    Kismit with colored lights that represent when the Super health is up or in cool down and kismits for the doors and lift.

    I am currently looking for a place I can upload with out the map getting timed out since I am only on a dial up connection and it takes me a while to upload 25 megabytes =o.

    Any of you have any or know of some one who has made a quake style textures for UT3?

    I am currently looking for a Gate texture & hopefully real torch's.

    I currently don't have a program that will let me make my own textures for UT3.

    I am thinking of getting Crazybump or something soon and hopefully that allows me to create teh textures that might go with the level better then the stock ut3 textures.

    Maybe there can be a texture pack that gives you some nice dark and scairy dungeon like materials

    Vertigo, if you have Photoshop you can download a free plugin to create normal maps:

    There is a HUGE archive of textures here that you can use as a base:

    Go to BRICK>MEDIEVAL BRICK for lots of Quakey stonework.

    My best advice is to pick upa copy of the UT3 Special Edition DVD. Its has hours of excellent video tutorials on all the aspects of UE3 including the material editor.

    the only photo shop I have is version R1 or something LOL the beta.

    Vertigo, i did a search for quake style texture too. But all i found were small ones like 128x128 or 256x256, which (mostly) are apparently out of date for games like UT3.

    I have been trying to figure out how to use the CG textures from CGtexture.com in unreal ed.

    I think I will need a program to convert cg textures into unreal ed textures.


    Updating pictures tomorrow of place of two deaths UT3.

    I may upload the map at a relatives house so the community can test the map.

    I haven't yet figured out how to get bots to shoot the buttons to get to the super health and teleporter yet and I am sure there's a way perhaps with kismet.

    I've tried everything i can to make the doors break and no success so far, so thats good
    The reces you have have put in that wall means that an annoying snag is still a danger when going for the ramp-dodge:

    Whats the thinking behind moving the Rocket Launcher to the other side of the balcony?

    Yeah I know there is a collision problem as the picture shows but for the moment I will leave it like that as it's in alpha phase and the meshes are always changing. I will begin to clean the collisions once it's later beta (or at least beta) which means no more structure modifications and the gameplay is stable and all the left is to fix bugs.
    But maybe I will do a quick fix on this one.
    The reasons for RL staying at the new location:
    - I added a SR below the RL, and it's not nice to see them just on the same side and next to each other
    - But that SR can't be otherwhere on that platform. That point seems the only choice nice for it. Not to mention it's close to the powerup tunnel
    - So have to move the RL, and the side opposite the pillars was, IMO, not that useful in the original map. So I think why not go there

    Np ChongLee, it will be interesting to see the course of action you take and how the map evolves. Had you thought about teleportation perhaps? Like when player picks up the item, they get teleported to a specific point, maybe the existing teleporter exit?

    I am adding a small destructive puddle along that path in the upcoming version, so you have to hurry to the powerup and no easy way to camp there.
    The problem was not about where to go after grabing the powerup, but overuse the path since it's kinda safe.
