    MAP-DM DM-Razerate

    Title: DM-Razerate
    Version: Final, but there seem to be some problems with the Bots near the Rocket Launcher. I'll fix it after getting some more feedback (So I just got to update it once.)
    Players: 2-4 (but it's also playable with more...)
    Description: It's a small and frozen facility in an artic landscape.

    Nice job, the only thing I have to say isn't necessarily good or bad, but it's just a smidge dark and I end up having to turn up the brightness when I play this map.

    Other than that, pretty solid gameplay and the architecture is very nice.

    I like the map for the most part. I would like it better with a couple changes tho. I would like to see the Goop gun added and also a lift to get up on the tops of the structures instead of needing the jump boots.

    I tried adding it too my server today and it keeps locking the server up when the map is loading, I had to take it back off. It wouldn't hurt to try to figure out what's causing that as well.

    I know a server where this map runs without problems, so...just don't know what's the problem. Sorry.

    @Brightness: Yes, it's too dark, i got to lighten it.

    @Weapons: I thought about the BioRifle, too. But there's not really space for another weapon. Maybe I can add the BioRifle instead of another one, let's see...

    very nice map ! i love it
    but i had the texture problem : see below

    - lighting was OK here and layout is really fun for 1on1 (3 players max IMO)


    perhaps move the jumpad a little more near the wall because when you go to the shield and boots, if you don't jump, you just fall on the jumpad and go back from where you came from ^^


    - you can walk on the guardrail and you can hide like in the pic so maybe add some blocking volumes there

    i hope you will release a fixed version, especially for the texture problem because the map is really fun !

    agreed^...also a smidge dark for my tastes, but some people like the atmospheric feel of a map like this so I am undecided as to whether I think you should change it in that respect or not. Overall good texturing (minus the problem stated above and the texturing of the pipe in the second) and good layout (minus being able to walk on the pipe(unless for some odd reason that was intended)). Gun placement is good but I would really like to see the goo gun because that is one of my favorite guns in the game, especially with a good many people playing.

    I really like this map and feel like you have yourself a winner. Great flow, always a ton of action, bots were good, the atmosphere was killer, yep I really enjoyed playing on this map and I played against three bots and it was not overly crowded it felt just right so this could also work well as a 2v2 TDM level. The level has a nice clean style ... very nice. The only thing I would ask for is a bit more health and perhaps a cool super pickup of some sort (invisibility or the superhealth) but other than that minor thing I can't say anything bad about this level. It worked for me on all cylinders. Thanks for a very fun and well crafted level.

    There's a Berserker on the highest tower =)

    LOL ... guess I was far too busy hunting down bots and running from them ... don't know how I missed that other than no bots went for it either I don't recall so maybe that is why. Cool .. next time I play it I will look for it. Thanks for reply.

    layout and visuals are very good. my main complaints are scaling and collision. i feel some places could do with a little more room, and (especially around the 3 sets of stairs near the armour and boots) more blocking volumes need to be used, as the curved stairs rails and gaps too the side cause problems with movement.

    The new version's available now.

    Changes v1.3:

    - map's a bit brighter now.
    - fixed some problems with collision.
    - fixed some problems with the bots.
    - the jumppad's nearer the facility now.
    - no more floating weaponbases.
    - fixed some map-streaming problems.

    They updated their toolset to let mod makers export their own mods to PS3 format...

    Great map. I would have wished a shieldbelt though. Either by replacing 50a with shieldbelt and placing shieldbelt in the location of healthvials @ flak. Or replacing berserk with belt. Otherwise a great map.

    seem like this map is more for eye-candy and inaccessible landscapes than a real map, but still cool

    Flak cannon is just way too dominant on this map. Lord help you if you don't have it. There's just too many narrow corridors.

    Visually, this map is a work of art-- great work there.

    Gameplay-wise, it is pretty close. I think a little more simplicity and a bit less clutter would have done it some good-- just some advice for your next project, which will hopefully exceed even this great work.

    And I have to disagree with anyone saying flak dominates this map. They haven't tasted one of my shock combos.

    I've played this map a couple more times since I posted and for its size the only thing I don't like on this level is the berserk pickup ... but usually I get it before the bots so its not that bad. But I also have a mutator that can deactivate pickups so its not a huge issue. But yeah unless you like CQC then this level is going to make you scream because the bots are damn good with the Flak and on this level the Flak rules as has been stated. I definitely still think a bit more health couldn't hurt this level but even so its still a fun little map for when you want to fight just a few opponents.

    Edit: I wanted to try out the newer version but the link doesn't work so hopefully you are still keeping up with this thread and you can fix the link to v1.3 or maybe someone else could upload it to Filefront for me (momentarily for downloading ... then feel free to delete it).
