    Post DM-TDB-HealPod

    Name: DM-TDB-HealPod

    Version: 1.0 FINAL

    Compatibility: UT2004

Description: The Tournament Biohealography Center -- nicknamed by Tournament competitors as 'The HealPod' due to the large healing receptacle that can be found at the epicenter of its architecture. Construction of this facility started in 2285 and was completed in the year 2291. Its purpose has remained the same to this day -- to provide the competitors with the ability to self-administer aid as quickly as possible to their injuries during the short time allotted between matches. There have been many regulations instated by the Tournament Commission to prohibit the discharging of weapons within the facility but Tournament competitors rarely follow this rule.

Comments: Just converting my UT2003 version to UT2004. Here are some changes from the 2003 version to the 2004 version:
    1. Changed the Rocket Launcher in the dark, little corridor to a Grenade Launcher and the 2 rocket ammo changed to grenades.
    2. Changed the lightning gun in the red circular room to a classic sniper rifle. The orange circular room retains the lightning gun.
    3. Level much brighter. Lighting increased/added subtle ambient lighting in other places.
    4. Fixed strange issue with phantom meshes. Large center mesh and the four light meshes surrounding removed. Z-fighting. Still don't understand wtf happened, but I fixed it.
    5. Fixed Invisibility pickup not showing properly on client machines in multiplayer games.
    6. Change player count from 4-8 to 6-10. It's big enough for a larger playerload.
    7. Ambient sounds were way freaking loud... WTF man. They were LOUD. I toned it down to an acceptable level. No wonder I would get a headache playing this map.
    8. Replaced the shield bases with default '04 sized pickup bases. Probably only makes sense to me. But mentioning it for the hell of it.
    9. Decreased healpod health from +15 to +10.
    10. Replaced all constant movers with ClientMovers.
    11. Removed some crap antiportals. Added some good ones.
    12. Fixed the crusher buttons so that you won't trigger the plunger/crusher if you jump over the button. For instance, in TDM, if you have a teammate under the plunger... yadda yadda.
    13. Made the secret door stay open a little longer. Just long enough for you to run in, pick up Invisibility, and run out. If the door closes before you get out, there is still a switch in there you can hit to open the door.

I wonder how long it'll take someone (besides Me and Flak) to find the secret in this map, lol. It was fun testing the map out for you Teddie, keep up the good work.

/me times the startup time of UnrealEd

I'm looking forward to playing this map again Teddie. Last time I played it was the original on UT99. It was prolly one of the most hectic and fun maps I ever played, so a big thx for recreating and converting it!

Found the secret by accident, lol I spawned and moved a few yards or so and heard a click and saw it open. Also there is a lighting problem when the door is closed just at the bottom it is red.

I'm glad you ported it, I always loved this map in all the other unreal games (it was also in the original unreal, but without the crusher buttons)

    Great map Teddie

    in an un-related note:
Love the music remake. But it would be cool if you could remake other cool UT1 songs. Such as: Foregone Destruction (I know you phatened it up a bit in your UT2003 Facing Worlds map) but it would be cool if it was like this UT1 song remake; what with guitars and such. Just a little request is all...

The remix for this map really kicks ass!

Are you going to make a remix for "Organic"? I forgot was map it was used with but I remember a 4ctf (was it called that?) map that used it.

Thanks Wulf. Let me know the server IP. I'll come hang out and frag sometime. BTW, I'm flying to the UK (around October I think) regarding the Cartwright Hall map contest that I won. Just to visit the hall and talk to some seminars or something. I'm hoping to meet some folks at the Hall the day that I do my measurements and picture taking for the next iteration of the map. You out and around by Bradford?

Ah, it's probably the triangles getting the stronger light from the outside... Hope it doesn't look too bad. I haven't noticed that.

Yeah, if I had more time I would re-perform all the UT1 songs that I carry over to the remakes -- it takes a while to perform the tracks and laydown the drums, etc. Time's not on my side lately. I think the HealPod music is the only remake song that I actually remade using my real guitars and bass, etc... It was time consuming. But fun.

Nice replies Teddie. Thats whats good - you take the time to reply to everyone:up:

Anyway, I'm shed loads of miles from Yorkshire so it'd be really hard to get up there and back in a day and make it useful, but thanks very much for the offer. Much appreciated

I gather that we already have Healpod on our USA server, but yet to get it put on the Euro server which is what I play on mostly due to ping/packet loss connecting all the way to the US one, although FnG guys from the US tend not to suffer too much coming our way:bulb:

    Servers are:
    Euro 1 - 195.7.147.162:7877 (gametypes DM/TDM)
    Euro 2 - 195.7.147.162:7777 (gametypes CTF/DOM)
    Euro 3 - 195.7.147.162:7677 (gametypes AS/ONS)
    USA 1 - www.digipimp.org:7777 (All gametypes)

[FnG]Crow manages the USA server and is a great guy. We all only tend to play for fun and don't get het up about losing, with the main aim to keep it friendly. I suspect thats your style, so come on by anytime - we'd all be pleased to play a game or two. Forums address is in my sig

It's not that bad, but it kinda gives away the location, because if you find the red, all you have to do is turn around a little and you see the switch.

Hmm, I think there was a crusher, but no buttons around to activate it. I don't realy remember, I'm gonna have to boot up that anciant editor to see what was going on. I still have it installed because I realy loved that gameplay. (hint hint)

Thumbs up good remake of a remake....

Ok, first sorry for the big bump, but I must have DLed this one to review the UT3 version of Healpod in the other section, so I'll just repost some stuff from other versions and make a few comments about changes from 2003 to 2004 versions. I won't repost UT3 version comments.

    - DmHealPod (Unreal) >> 3 levels, lots of z-axis, novel concept
    - DM-HealPod][ (UT) >> lost Unreal atmosphere, too bright, better music, still good though
    - DM-HealPod2003[FuT] (UT2003) >> music remix, some of the Unreal atmosphere back sort of with UT2003 twist, hard to see sometimes.
    - DM-TDB-HealPod (UT2004) >> seems to be just a quick conversion to UT2004 by same above author, Teddie, of the UT2003 conversion. Not sure about RL to GL conversion but it still looks like an RL in the UT2004 version. The darker UT2003 version has a certain atmosphere, but I like this brighter UT2004 version better (easier to see). I like the higher player count and didn't really notice the other minor fixes, but they were obviously needed and I'm glad they are there. Bots are fairly good in this one.

Good remake from the great UT99 map of the same name, actually added a "TDB" moniker that is for the exclusive author who made this remake in 2004. Fairly same as SkaarjMaster's post did. Even the scaling is good necessary, gameplay, and the reflective textures are really nice in this version well. Bots are decent.
