Question The Haunted and other TC install Guide

I see a lot of people are having trouble with the installation of the total conversion "The Haunted 2.0" and decided to write a quick detailed guide on how to do it. Will try and write one for the other TC's too if I get the time.

    NB
Never ever install a mod into your main directory, if you mess up your skrewed!!!

You have two directories for UT3.
A Main directory and a My Games directory

The Main directory is where you have your Unreal Tournament 3 installed.

Retail version would look something like this:
    C:\games\Unreal Tournament 3
Steam version would look something like this:
    D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\Common\Unreal Tournament 3

The My Games directory is where all the mods go. It's there so that you have a lesser chance of messing up your game, if something goes wrong you could always delete it and new one would be automatically created.

Both the Retail and Steam version uses the same directory
    C:\Users\Hideinlight\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3

    The Haunted installation:

Requirements: You unreal tournament 3 patched to at least 2.0 and the Titan Pack

    1. Download the The Haunted
After you've downloaded it you'll have a file name HauntedV2.rar
You'll need to install WinRar in order to extract it. http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm

    2. Right click on HauntedV2.rar and choose the "Extract to HauntedV2\" option. Everything should be extracted into a folder called HauntedV2 in the current directory. Open that folder.

    3. HauntedV2 folder should contain the folowing:
    HauntedGame folder
    The Haunted Manual
    THE HAUNTED README
    The Haunted.lnk
    The Haunted Editor.link

Delete or ignore The Haunted.lnk and The Haunted Editor.link
They are giving too much problems.

Copy HauntedGame folder as is over to:
    Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3
Suggest also copying over the manual and readme file for later reference.
NOTE: Check if your copied over the right folder!!!
Should look like this: Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\HauntedGame

    and not Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\HauntedV2 \HauntedGame

    4. Now we gonna create a shortcut that's gonna launch The Haunted.

    Retail version:

    a. Go to the folowing directory:
    C:\games\Unreal Tournament 3 retail\Binaries

    b. Right click on you UT3.exe file and create a shortcut.

    c. Rename that shortcut to TheHauntedRetail or whatever you prefer.

    d. Put the shortcut on the desktop or any place you prefer.

    e. Right click the shortcut and click properties.
In the Target box it should look something like this:
    "C:\games\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe"

You need to add the folowing line to it:
    -mod=..\HauntedGame -solomod

    and click apply

This is how it should look in the end if you done it right:
    "C:\games\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -mod=..\HauntedGame -solomod

//Note that you can leave a space in before -mod althought there doesn't //need to be one in this case.

    d. If you did everything right The Haunted splash screen should come up and the game will start.

    Steam Version

    a. Open up Steam

    b. Under the My Games tab of your Steam right click on Unreal Tournament 3 and choose the "Create desktop shortcut" option.

    c. Go to your desktop and rename that shortcut to TheHauntedSteam or whatever you prefer.

    d. Right click the shortcut and click properties.
In the Target box it should look something like this:
    "D:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 13210

You need to add the folowing line to it:
    -mod=..\HauntedGame -solomod

    and click apply.

It should look something like this:
    "D:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 13210 -mod=..\HauntedGame -solomod

//Note that there should be a space before -mod to seperate it from //-applaunch 13210
    //ex. -applaunch 13210 -mod

    e. If you did everything right The Haunted splash screen should come up and the game will start.

Check again if TheHaunted folder is in the right place.

For The Ball, I do it a bit different. On UT3 in the games list in Steam I right click for properties, and it lets you add a commandline argument there. I simply write "-mod=../TheBall". When I want to run UT3 normally I remove that.

You guys should make an SFX archive, they're really convenient because the target comp doesn't need winrar and it automatically puts it in the right place.
