actually i think it might be like halo 3 how they are delaying that on pc. its PROBALLY becuase microsoft are going to replace vista in the next year for some reason so they may be waiting for the next windows operating system release first!! anybody else agree?

i'm just stabbing in the dark here.

well, the PC version of Gears of War was released a year later than the 360 version. i think it's just kind of Microsoft's way because the Halo games so far have both been released on the PC but significantly later than the Xbox versions. i don't think it's got anything to do with the new Windows.

apart from that, i do feel like the reason they're going to replace Vista is because it wasn't as successful as it was supposed to be. so i don't really agree with you on this. however, i do see a possibility of a PC release of Gears 2 at a later time. on the other hand i wouldn't be surprised if they decided against it since the statement they were not going to do it was pretty direct this time.

"Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360"

No PC version this time, Cliff said that they want to focus on 360 only.
here is a link. he says himself NO PC version

As Ashtrak said, "Heaven forbid".

No kidding..... heaven forbid they do something for PC GAMING because lets remember WHO made Epic what it is today.

It wasn't consolers that made Epic what it is today..... it was PC Gamers.

If the 360 is really crackable as I'm starting to hear/read... then hell.... I'll keep spending thousands on PC Games legitimately and I might have to actually grab a console... lol, but I won't be paying for the games.

I'll be the only one in the world who buys PC games but doesn't pay for his console games.... damn, that's hilarious thinking about it.

How does that sound Epic... Microsoft? you like that possibility?

I want a PC version because:

1. It'll only cost $30 six months after it's released OR wait a year and a half and Half Price Books will carry it for $14.98 brand new sealed.

2. It'll have working Anti-Aliasing, so no retarded Jaggies will ruin my experience.

3. It'll have working V-Sync, so no retarded Tears will ruin my experience.

4. It'll most likely come with higher quality textures since the consoles are limited in capability/scalability compared to my year old Quad Core 88 GT build.

5. I... as in ME/MOI dictate how I will enjoy my video gaming time.

Seriously, they weren't even originally intending to make a port of the original Gears of War though decided to do you all a nice thing and have the now Epic-owned People Can Fly make a port of it. Now, because they're not doing it again, you all whine about Epic not giving into your demands, as if you're ungrateful for what they've already done.

On another note, Epic Games, of course, moves quickly and isn't going to put their next project on hold to make a needless port, and People Can Fly is already working on another project with EA. Epic isn't going to abuse the fact that they own PCF either, and respects that they are still a development company and not a company that just does port jobs (like Feral, MacSoft, usually Aspyr, and so on). And with no real need for it, there isn't going to be one.

Yes, I have it on the PC myself, and wouldn't mind a port, though I know it's not happening and have accepted it. With loads of evidence on how such a port is non-existent, I'm not going to just deny all of that and say it's all false because I said so, and more of these threads is not going to change Epic's schedule.

Wow..... You obviously don't have your priorities straight.

PC comes first and foremost, Console should be second.

Without PCs... guess what... NO Console games... period.

"needless port" More like the other way around...

WHY do people enjoy playing games on consoles with NO AA and NO VSYNC!??? Christ, I'll never understand that.

Oh and guess what..... I already know Epic will port it eventually.
It's in their best interest and they know it.

With it being possible to pirate Console games just as easily as PC Games now: Epic had BETTER watch how they treat their PC Customer base because they will have a backlash of EPIC proportions (sorry for the pun)!

Ha, you think PC pirating has been bad.... JUST WAIT until everyone finds out how easy it is to pirate console games.

People will quickly quit caring about Multi Player in favor of playing stolen Single Player experiences for free.

MARK my words.... the "thriving" Console market will eventually come to a crawl.

Don't get me wrong, I really don't see a need for the console move either. Consoles are basically glorified gaming PC's, simplified for the guy who probably doesn't even know what makes a good gaming PC and for ease of use. Other than that, PC's can do anything a console can do (except for the whole motion-sensing technology everyone loves now, though I think that'll wear off and we'll realize that the Wii really didn't do much for the industry), including use console controllers and play on a television. That I can agree with, that if people knew how to make themselves a great gaming PC, there would be no need for consoles.

Nevertheless, Gears of War 2 for the PC still isn't happening. I know that it'd make a lot of people happy, though no one's going to change their schedule to make one when it wasn't intended to be made anyways. A port's a big job, after all, and I think the reasons why they aren't making one are very realistic. Maybe you could buy it for a friend with an Xbox 360 and invite yourself over to his house to play it. (I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 accepts USB keyboards and mice.) Again, I wouldn't mind one myself, though I don't want to get ignorant about it and rant on about how it's somehow coming...I still don't know why these threads keep coming up--it's not like you can do anything about it.

I hate to correct you, but (if it hasn't happend already), there is a company that's been working on a USB device that exceeds what the Wii remote can do.

So... that's not a Console exclusive anymore:cool:

Wow, I've never even heard of that. It's good to be a PC gamer, hehe.

It does get created on PC's (with Xbox 360 developer units), though the code is Xbox 360-readable code, and porting something like that is more work than many might think. You can hope and hope that for some reason Epic Games decides to get someone to port it, though they themselves are probably planning out Gears of War 3 right now. (I believe Gears of War 2 went gold and is in production now.)

I was furious last month or so when it was announced there will be no gow 2. The only thing I have left is hope based on a past experience where a lot of xbox games got ported. But, I dunno guys, looks like they're serious this time. Dead rising was also a great game, and no pc ver of it either. I don't know if condemned 2 will come to pc. In some cases, there are no pc ver of great games. So I fear this also could be it.

Consoles are for "put & play" people, kids and older folks who just wanna play, put the game in and don't worry about AA or vsync. I know a lot of guys playing PC games on default rez, med settings only because they don't know what it is and how to change it. And there are very very much of those kind of gamers, many of them already crossed over to one of the consoles. It's a sad thing :\

We as the hardcore gamers make up a very small percentage of the gaming population. Casual gamers become attracted to a console because it's small, sleek, and all you have to do is slide in a disc, which is perfectly fine by them. If the casual guy owns a PC and does any gaming on it, most of the time it's usually Flash/Shockwave games or stuff like The Sims. Typically it's only the hardcore gamers who care to build a PC powerful enough to play the best of games, which I guess isn't so bad. (This usually means that we get to play against more mature players--not always, though many times--instead of screaming little kids, which I don't mind.)

Anyways, I'll be fine with it all as long as Unreal Tournament doesn't become console-exclusive. (I've practiced that so much that I know how far I need to snap the mouse over with the Lightning Gun to very easily land a headshot on a guy. On a console, Unreal Tournament isn't nearly as good without that precision of a computer mouse.)

yeah its really annoying but they are worried about piracy in some interview they mentioned they know where to get the game from. the should just make them more secure like office 2007-thats a solid activation. or what they should do is offer something extra with the real version to persuade people not to download an illegal one!

or they could make it complusary to activate online to track game sales and online players then track them or something like that.

Afternoon to you sir... thanks for chiming in.

You bring up some very Valid and important points.

If I can make an Analogy... sorry if I'm stepping on anyones political toes here:

What you have just outlined is EXACTLY what Devs and Pubs WANT/WISH/PRAY/And HOPE for.

THEY DO NOT WANT EDUCATED Gamers.

Same as some forms of Government DO NOT WANT THEIR people to be educated for fear of uprisings/demands for general equality and rights/etc/etc.

Todays Gaming Companies and Publishers like Epic and Codemasters for example can ONLY thrive if their customers DON't have a CLUE as to what kind of quality to expect/etc. So when a die hard Consoler tells you, "man, console is so much better for this reason/this reason/yada/blada", lil does he know that's he's losing graphical quality by not having working AA & V-Sync.

He doesn't know he's missing out on anything, so therefore: in his mind, he made a great purchase and has made the 'right/smart/good' choice.

Same thing as Obama promising everything he's promising without going into full detail about what Socialism is all about and without MOST not understanding what HUGE government and no capitalism would do to this country.

Same thing with Gaming.... if ALL gamers in the world saw their FAVORITE Console game before/after...

before - obviously no AA & V-Sync

compared to

after - on a PC w/AA & V-Sync

They're minds would start to change drastically and guess what... they would expect the SAME quality afforded to them for their money that PC Gamers have come to expect over the last decade.

I salute you for bringing up that point.

To Epic: you can hope that gaming will go the way of Socialism where you can dictate the options/etc, but us PC Gamers will ALWAYS be Capitalist Gamers and will ALWAYS expect the best when we sit down and waste our lives fantasizing about blobs on the screen.

To be honest, i am not THAT Bothered wether it's released on PC or not. It was great on the 360, but looked nicer on my Spec of PC. Still i prefered Gameplay of Gears on my 360. However, i can only hope that Unreal Tournament stays as a PC Game, because for precission sniping, fast killing etc, you need a Mouse and Keyboard.

Would be nice for PC, but i can settle with just having it on 360.

Subternal
10-17-2008, 05:56 PM
To further extend on that point... god.. this is soo easy.

Since Console games 9/10 have lower quality textures than their PC Counterparts, no working AA, no working V-Sync, and since the Dev was cheaper and easier because of 'just' those 3 things: wouldn't one think that Console games would be cheaper since their quality isn't as high as the cheaper PC games?....

Wow.... Consolers are truly bending over.

Oh, lol... but wait, "the no hassle experience" is what evens that out... right?.... ha!

please... try something else

Considering the gameplay is identical to the PC, and considering that one has the option to play the game with the gamepad of their choice or mouse/kb on PC: what exactly do you prefer in the Console version of the PC version?

Or they could use a system like STEAM. VALVe gets little piracy issues with Steam, and most Fake steam accounts/Copies/Hacks do not allow for certain content and Online play on Source Engine Games atleast.

STEAM is annoying though when the servers are down, (Also you can get Unreal Tournament 3 on Steam, would be a good idea to distribute Gears 2 on there if it ever was made on PC)

Im sorry, thats just not true. Being a girl I get SOOO much hassle on the xbox, whilst on the pc not many people care or make a big deal about it. Another thing, while the xbox's main problem appears to be teamkilling, the pc's only one I have encountered so far is arrogant hosts, the kind that join forums just to flame them.

Also, only late teens/adults can afford high end rigs, so that cuts out the annoying eight year olds. And i can mod it xD.
