not sure yet, but from what i know, nades in GoW are quite rare and powerfull, but im not sure if they are strong enough to instantly kill ur opponent, but maybe with a direct hit

I hope they are really powerful , enough to get them if they are like a hous e away , that is probably what a nade in real life would do(Maybe,Not sure about Nades, never ever used one).

My guess is it would be about the blast raduis. Get caught in the middle of the blast, i.e. the 'nade goes off at your feet and you'll die instantly. Get caught further out in the blast you won't die, you'll go into "down but not out."

Perhaps the closer you are to the center, the more damage you get. So if you're right on the fringes of the blast, you just lose some health. Compared to the guy sitting on it when it goes off and ends up painting the wall with an abstract version of a COG or Locust.

I am hoping that if a grenade goes off and you are close but not close enough to be damage that your hearing is effected. Kinda like a ringing noise for a few seconds. That would be pretty cool if the sounds was all muffled, even your team mates shouting about incoming locust.

Well theres no doubt that grenades will be powerful BUT quite rare. The fact that this game online is mostly about using cover and flanking maneouvers means that grenades would just nullify that.

So expect grenades to be powerful and if they hit dead on, it probably will be an outright kill

Just watch the e3 demo vids to get an idea of grenade power, they are pretty damn powerful, but in multi-player, players will be able to roadie-run the hell out of there alot i'm guessing which balances out the power.

The more powerful and rare the better. Just imagine being in a tactical position to overrun the enemy your squad is following suit and "Grenade!!!" ....changes the whole battle field. Puts everyone in harms way. Can't wait.

Yeah, just think what the rocket launcher will be like. Your hiding behind some soft cover, waiting to ambush an enemy and then BAM, rocket launcher blows away your cover and leaves you exposed. If grenades do the same, this game is going to be tense online :D

The average balst radius of current grenades used in the military are 20 yds. But in hollywood its about 5 yds or sometimes rediculous radi like 60 yds.

Unless it has already been stated one way or another, I personally think whoever said a direct hit would be instant death, and a close hit would be "down but not out" has the best idea. I mean, it sounds the most balanced and fair.

i remember the e3 stage demonstration Rod Fergusson did on gamespot and he said that grenades can take a person out completly with a direct hit.

I've seen a gameplay vid on gamespot.com and a grenade blew up far behind two locust and killed them both instantly so they will be powerful, very powerful.

I know that the nades u start w/ in GoW multi will b smoke nades. These will be harmless in themselves, but can totally turn around a fight if used correctly.

The grenades are very powerful. In the E3 demo Rod threw a grenade between 2 Locusts and killed them both. The Locusts were about 6 feet away also. The reasont he grenades are so powerful is becuase you have to switch to your grenade, stand up, then throw it. It's not like Halo where you can throw a grenade just by pressing a button.

Yeah, I was actually thinking about that today whilst watching the E3 walkthrough for the zillionth time.

It looks like the time involved in actually throwing a grenade is quite substantial; probably meaning you're gonna take a hell of a lot of damage when you decide to do so.

I hope this works out in gameplay... because it might end up being the case they aren't worth using at all if it simply results in a quick and violent death.

I figure that if anything is strong enough to kill you instantly, its gotta be a grenade.

I just realised how I made that sound.

What I mean is that grenades might not be worth using for the player throwing them if they get killed too easily by other players whilst throwing them.

*Phew* That was a mouthful.

P.S.

Okay, I just thought a bit more about this and I was dumb. Yes, I was as dumb as Renny Harlin's sense of tension.

Anyways, the thing is, it just makes the dynamic that bit more interesting if you have to think more about when you can use a grenade.

So if some girl isn't paying attention.

If she decides she just wants to gawp at the sweet graphics.

If she is all about talking to her boyfriend instead of concentrating on the whereabouts of cold-blooded, MP specialists like me

I'll stand up. Swing my grenade. And watch her explode in high definition whilst saying "YEah.... that's right.... eat my super-accurate grenade..... eat it... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGh"

Then I'll tea-bag her.

I'm a great believer in tea-bagging.
