OK here is the problem. I built a piece of terrain in UEd then added some lighting. I rebuilt lighting and the terrain dissappeared. The terrain info was still there but it would not show despite my attempts to rebuild geometry etc. There was no sky box in place and only the main subtraction Brush in place.

Anyone got some thoughts?

Does your heightmap have a texture yet?

The one that caught me out is right clicking on the viewport tool bar to bring up that menu where you check which actors you want visible. I had somehow mis-clicked so complicatedly that I deselected terrain.

I also had some weird stuff that happened when I used different numbers for the X and Y values in terrain drawscale. I think at one point the terrain may have disappeared. It also developed wrinkles.
