Nominate a Gears Reaper!

Each week, one member from the Gears of War community will be chosen to be the Epic Reaper. Members will be chosen based on their contributions to the community. If you would like to nominate someone to be the Reaper, you can post in this thread or on Twitter using the hashtag #GearsReaper.

During launch week, we will have employees from Epic Games use the Reaper character, and we'll share those gamertags with you as soon as we have them. After that, we will start the community member Reaper program.

Commander Rown + Hooligunn + Sim: Because without them, I'd have never played with the guys I play with now, nor would I have been able to help as much as I've been able to. I owe a lot to those three.

Suicide Fox: Despite our differences on a few issues, he's still a great guy to strike up a conversation with on any number of things. Has made big contributions to the forum community.

Kakashi: Despite making me want to throttle him several times, this guy is great at voicing his opinion and sticking to his guns on controversial issues. Always gives great opinions when the need arises.

Crotale: AWESOME artwork that never fails to impress.

Legion, Reign, Dlive, BumblebeeTuna, Rs, (and the list goes on): Great members of GzB. They love Gears, they love liquor, and they can have one hell of a good time!

Arctyc: Because dude is friggin awesome! I don't think an explanation is needed here.

Cryptic: Amazing player, great Youtuber, all around great fella' to hang around. Plus, he did something he hated to help me grind toward 3.0!

DenythisFlesh: Hardcore Gearhead. Puts in a LOT of time in the game, as well as carrying on good conversation here. He thinks I'm a smartass, but that's alright because I am.

NP473L: His amazing weapon skin thread for Gears 3, as well as his work in several other threads. He keeps a cool head and is more knowledgeable and open to idea than most.

Shauny: He's a master commentator! He's been helping commentate matches for various groups for a long time now, and does a fantastic job. We even named an all-to-nades rush on Checkout after him!

So a few things I think you're likely to ask about:

- Yes, we're going to look at folks for different regions when we have community Reapers. Want to make sure those around the world will have a chance to earn the medals and skins. Since it's Epic folks only next week, we'll have to set up a few private matches to make sure our international audience has a shot during week 1.

- As has been rumored, the Reaper does in fact fly! Sort of. When it comes off a ledge it kind of hovers Mary Poppins style as it descends. So yeah, too OP for us to just throw it out there in the wild.

- Community nominations will definitely be a factor in who we choose. Flak and I (and likely some folks from the dev team) will discuss who makes the most sense.

- Remember that this is something that happens every week, so if you haven't had a chance to play against the Reaper or think there's someone really deserving that hasn't been chosen yet, give it some time. This is something we plan to keep going for as long as possible.

Question: How can you give a community member this reaper skin for a week which others will be looking out for when said community member is under no obligation to actually play the game? (For example you give the skin to me, and due to external circumstances I am unable/dont play that week. basically means no reaper for tha week if you get my meaning)

For the past couple of years he has generously made free customized Gears backgrounds for people. I know he made several dozen, if not a hundred, during the Gears 3 days as well as making customized backgrounds for Judgment. He also does a lot of work with the EGFC and GzB communities helping them out.

Nominate NFI.

He's a very patient guy who tries to answer questions for the community. He gets a lot of grief for a guy just trying to help people which is very uncool. Don't hate on my bro!

I nominate Viking.

He is one of the big timers over at the EGFC. He handles a lot of the events and makes those damn awesome tournaments for a lot of people to enjoy and have a truly competitive atmosphere.

I nominate bchaps.

His Q & A threads were fantastic and he really kept them up to date.

I nominate Gnashes.

He's an absolute dick and purely asinine, especially on twitter, but he is a very loyal Gear whose criticisms only stem from his true desire to see the game be the best it can.

Also going to vote for Onyx Guarrd and Queen Riful for doing a smashing job in the Onyx Guard group. They do a great job helping all the new Gears settle in and making sure to get some games in with them.
