    Default how to resave

i really have no script experience, i have only created a subclass for an existing actor,
and usually i save in myLevel package,

i was wanting to change a value in a mutator,
so if i change the value, how do i resave package,

it is a .u file for a weapons mutator,
i tried editing in notepad and resaving the .u but that makes ut2004 crash when loading it,

so i was going to re compile in the actor browser then i go to save and i don't know what to save
because there are more than one new actors when opening the original .u file in actor browser,
i click the save package and it saves, but no new .u file date on the .u in windows explorer

You might want to read some tutorials first. You can do a lot of things, but editing binary files in a text editor is clearly not the way to go.

    <elmuerte> you shouldn't do all-nighters, it's a waste of time and effort

You also don't want to alter any packages, because that will break your online compatibility. The only way to change a setting in a package that is not yours and that the original author didn't provide the means to change is to create a subclass of the mutator, change the setting in your new subclass, and then compile/save your new package as a U file. You'll also have to export the UCL file for the game to find your new mutator.

i was hoping i wouldn't have to dabble into scripting, but maybe this is a good thing,

simply i just want to change one value in the .u file,
since that can not be done, i open it in actor browser, i change value, and when i go to save .u file, the window doesn't pop, even after compile,
i realize that when i opened the .u file in the browser, there are several new actors listed in various locations, so subclassing just one makes me think it won't work,
but i am a noob at this, and i am willing to look through some tutorials on the matter,

i realize i am such a noob that i apologize ahead of time for asking any unrealistic questions,
if anyone knows of a simple solution to this, which i am sure you will ask what mutator i am modifying,
i have emailed the author, and hope for some help from him,
although he hasn't been active for a few years, it seems unlikely i will hear back,
for know i will look into process of making a mutator, so i may be able to figure it out,
i assume i will be back asking for more help,
my modifications are really for my own use, and would like to use them in my videos i am making on my youtube account
