Hi Everyone! We have been quiet over the last couple of months but that is because we have a lot of amazing DVDs to release very soon. To start it off we are announcing an amazing sequel to our Unreal Kismet DVD. Rusty does an outstanding job digging deeper into Kismet to create a simple game prototype without writing any code! Keep your eyes out for new releases in the coming weeks!

    DVD Description:
In this DVD Rusty Sempsrott dives into the depths of Kismet using UDK. He will be showing many of the concepts needed to use Kismet for prototyping out different game ideas. Rusty creates a simple top-down perspective shooter entirely in Kismet, without writing a single line of code. Topics include: setting up the levels, adding logic and a camera actor, setting up the player and game camera, player controls, global variables, level streaming, enemy vehicles, enemy movement, enemy damage, adding a scoring system, advanced movement, projectiles, player death, and finally a camera flythrough of the final game.

This DVD is perfect for those who want to learn more about Kismet and how to use it to prototype your own game ideas, without having to know any UnrealScript.

Well.. the title gave me a mini heart attack. At first I thought this is a series of tutorials for the new Kismet system in Unreal engine 4, which was often dubbed as "Kismet 2".

Purchased this video the other day. Have not finished it, but overall good quality so far. Well worth it even if you are not looking to build a top down game, always good tips in these videos.

I greatly apologize for the noob question, but I'm fairly new to UDK. I purchased this video via download yesterday and unfortunately I'm running into a issue early on. Video 2 (level_setup) has me opening up the Kismet_2.udk which I do, but shortly after that the designer has me opening up an additional environment map. Following the designer, I do the same exact thing, but each and every time I receive the following error, "Importing external sublevels is not allowed. Move the level files into the standard content directory and try again. After moving the level(s), restart the editor." I've tried adding it externally, but nothing seems to work. Other than that I'm currently going through "Mastering Unreal Technology: Volume I" which is good reference, I however didn't know there was a difference between UT3 and UDK. You live and learn I suppose!

    Thanks!

thepromisering, you better contact Eat3D directly, since they will more likely to notice and reply you than posting here. And many people on the forum don't have access to the videos so can't reply you anyway.

quanganht - Thanks for the feedback! I reached out to them on Friday, but figured this site would be a good place to check as well. I'm sorry for yet another question, but you wouldn't have any input on where I could find some good video tutorials on learning mapping and or Kismet/Matinee? I'm finding some good information on the site thus far, but figured why not ask, right? Thanks again!

Which version of UDK are you using? The author is using sublevels for streaming the levels so you want the version they are using or higher which is May 2012.

I wonder if the DVD covers using the Group # in actor factories to manage spawns. If so, I will buy this...
