Default Do I need to use Scaleform

I have been trying to use Macromedia Flash 8 with UDK and it isn't interacting at all no matter what I do I cannot call the methods inside of my flash files. Does anyone have a solution aside from me spending $300 for Scaleform?

You should rephrase your question: Scaleform is included for free in UDK. What you pay $300 is the Adobe Flash CS5 Suite to be able to create Flash files with the CLIK framework that is provided with the UDK.

So, are you just looking for an alternative authoring program that still allows you to make use of Flash, or do you also accept an approach that doesn't use Flash and Scaleform at all?

There's also SWiSH Max 4, you can play arround with the demo version of 14 days.
But actually you need to use Flash to use Scaleform, CLIK menus and a better integration of FsCommands and ActionScript.
I don't know but isn't there a version of Flash for students ?
    I could confound.

There is a student version of the Adobe stuff.

There is a subscription version also, it's about $29. That's what I do.

Ahh I was thinking that Autodesk Scaleform was the tool needed to develop interactive flash guis. So basically what I was asking is, I already own Macromedia Flash 8 which I believe was the forerunner to Adobe Flash, do I need to upgrade or is there a class I am just not importing to make ActionScriptVoid work properly?

Setting up scaleform isn't intuitive so it's understandable. There is another forum where you should put your questions though, and there are some stickied threads.
