Region Filter option for GOWJ

Hey brother gears!

What's up! I already stated this at another thread and thought, why not! So here goes...

Was just thinking if they could put this in as an option in GOWJ just like the new Transformers MP game where you could choose to play on region servers or world wide servers.

I don't know, but it was an awesome addition to that game's MP and it might be a good option to add to GOWJ as well. So far, I've played on the world wide servers for that Demo game and everything was smooth so why not give it a shot.

If this ever happens, now we could all play together in QM and Ranked matches together as a community undivided by regions which is cool right.

The current region filter feels ok to me. I only get persons from countries around us, within a few seconds. They should only add an option to search for games in other regions for those who can't find any matches in their region.

The more options the better! I like that feature in Transformers. I've never used it, since finding a game is easy enough, but it would be handy in a game with less population.

To be honest, I don't want people from other regions lagging up my games. If the option is there to play on servers in other regions, then there also needs to be an option to only play in matches with your region and keep players from other regions out.

Good idea. Hopefully it won't lead to any significant connection issues if it'll be added. I've played Gow3 against american players several times(dunno how I've ended up in the same match) and it often wasn't very fun for either side

I think that this is one of the few threads on the forums worth reading. I think that region filters would help the game a lot. Can someone/everyone tweet this to the devs? I don't have a twitter

Halo 3 didn't have dedicated servers, it couldn't have had this feature. Region settings on P2P are not the same.

This. The servers belong to MS, they make decisions regarding them. As far as out of the country they hire companies to host server clusters, they aren't cohesive sets, there is a lot of breakdown as far as region goes. A server browser doesn't work w microsofts infrastructure as its designed to restrict you to only your data center, as you only see and connect to the same one, every time.

It's up to them to ultimately change things. Not EPIC.

Nope. But it's important to ask the proper governing body if you even want a chance for it to happen. EPIC isn't the one. Especially when they don't field ideas for these sorts of things for a number of reasons.

Yea. They have full outright ownership of the IP and can put it on any system they choose. Microsoft owns absolutely zero of the Gears franchise. They work with Microsoft due to it being mutually beneficial, they get the power of MS marketing team, the XBOX Live service, and their financial support for things like servers, while MS gets a Killer App and a triple A game series. Its not like Halo which MS owned via their ownership of Bungie. EPIC chooses to stay with Microsoft.

No we actually do. In an interview they discussed it. They have had nothing in place beyond Gears 2. Epic chooses to keep the game on Xbox as they did with 3 and now GOWJ, as each time it came under megotiations. Microsoft has zero rights to anything. After Gears 2 was released Microsoft had to negotiate w EPIC. Epic decided to keep it on Xbox. Microsoft had a contract for the first game and it's sequel only.

EPIC can move the series multiplatform at any time if they so choose. It's entirely in their hands. Microsoft is paying a lot to keep it here, but judging from Capps' comments that may change in the future.

If they decide the next Gears after this game will be on PS4, Microsoft can't do a thing about it.
