Gem: In terms of the gem's appearance itself, all Light gems and hexagon +XP gems. Visual battle effect wise, Fire attack gem (on a non-solar wep), Dark attack gem (on a solar wep) and rare spectrum gem.
I haven't collected all items yet, so I may change my mind sometime when I do obtain all of them. But if you are asking about the coolest looking set (armor+shield+weapon), then I would surely go for the Vile set.

Lol... Shard gem would be like a broken half priced gem, like the same Amount of damage except it has a life bar and runs out eventually lol

We kinda have that for rings and crystal magic. Purple crystals impaling the enemy.
I've always loved that sword ever since we (the forum peoples) figured out that it can only be obtained in NG^3, and it's the only item like that. All the others can be gotten in NG^2 or BG (this is IB 1).
