Default Static Mesh Texture Automatically Changing Detail?

    Hey all,

So this just recently started happening, and I'm not quite sure why. I've got a custom static mesh in my map, with custom materials, UV mapping, UV lightmapping, etc. Recently, the mesh has began acting strangely in UDK. It will only display the full resolution textures upon literally standing right next to it. As soon as you take a few steps away, the texture resolution drops dramatically. This happens ingame, in the editor windows, and when playing in editor. Any ideas why? Here's a screenshot:

Wow I had the same problem in a previous project, I never bothered about fixing it to be honest. But it looked like a bug to me. It came out of nowhere and no matter what I tried, it stayed ugly -.-

Anyways. What helped was deleting the asset and the textures and reimport everything.

The mipmaps are taking effect much quicker than they should be. I am having the same issue with one of my materials.

I have posted about this in the Reporting Issues forum: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...1#post30649451

You can try to change lodgroup in textures settings to fix this.

If you don't have a large open world scene where a lot of objects/textures will be seen at the same time even from a distance (like if you have only indoor areas that you can't see a mesh from a very far distance in) you can go into the UDKEngine.ini and change bUseTextureStreaming to FALSE.

Again, only do this if you don't have a lot of stuff that can be seen from far distances as having no streaming could take a toll on performance.
