Default UDK Perforce vs Other SVN systems?

The UDK July 2012 build comes with Perforce integration free up to 20 users. Haven't tried Perforce yet, currently using SVN. So i want to know what is there in Perforce that would be useful over SVN. Is it like udk files are treated like text files or something? So that if 2 persons are editing the same level and one person commits it and the other person updates it then the 2 files get merged? Or are they still gonna conflict?

They'll still conflict. The two tools largely do the same job, although many would argue that Perforce is simply the more elegant solution. If you're happy with SVN, then I'd see no reason to change

I watched in a vid that with Perforce that if two ppl are working on a file, and the 'second' person finishes first then when the first person to check the file out finishes it will ask if they wish to merge the other persons updats before it gets turned back into the server(makes you choose one)

I'm new to it, so everybody knows this I'm sure

That's with text files, not binary files.

As far as i have read and seen udk perforce doesn't have ssl support. So i'm happy with svn. And i think svn is more elegant if you have a proper visual client and there are many free tools for that.

It would be awesome if UE4 treated udk files as text files and provide a way of comparing them. After all they are text files with a bunch of numbers but the average human can't understand it. More better if they could provide real time sharing like if a person puts a box in a level another person sees it on his computer. But that would be asking too much.
