Best way I've found to get the square gems (unfortunately) is large chests. Ng34 RB45 my chests cost about 2 mill and fairly often I get +400 square gems from them. Friggin pricey tho, gotta have a ton of cash saved up.

I just put an Attack Stat +169, +100, and +107 and it gave me a +181....wtf

Yeah getting to+400 can be.... Tough. I'm working on a 2nd fire and it's taken me 3 forges to go from ~350 to 388. Something's the RNG can be really mean.

yeah I only have 2 +400s, Fire (from Ryth) and Shock, which I forged myself. takes forever to find squares

I have multiple sets of 2 elemental gems so for a lot of them I'm just waiting for number 3, but of course all I can find are the ones I don't already have 2 of (frown)
Lol, I just got REALLY Lucky, Ryth is vulnerable to shock, and I beat the guy before you get to fight Ryth, and won a Shock +305 gem!!!

Though i do have one suggestion for people trying my method: don't just buy the square gems each rebirth. Buy all gems in store and throw the useless ones into the forge randomly. Sometimes the game rewards you with a square gem

If you run out of spaces, you can always use other weapons/armor/etc. to store certain gems. That's what I'm doingI don't have enough space for that kind of random forging

I know. I just realized that too. What a coincidence... I'm going to store my circle gems in my Aran when I need space and the crap gems I need to forge actually in the forge itself. Extra place to stick things... I call gems I put in the forge for storage Hobo Gems lol

Fight Ryth 3 times=3 fire +400 gems, forge them together=rare fire +500 gem, easy. BUT...

Which reminds me: I recall forging three elemental attack gems (each of them are of different element from one another) and yet the outcome was NOT an elemental attack gem at all! This is what made me scarred of forging my more powerful elemental attack gems (cos I worry that I may 'lose' them). Any advice or suggestions?No

don't put square gems with similar value, or you will get a random gem. put in square gems with very different values and you will almost be guaranteed another square gem

i SERIOUSLY tell you that playing hard is the only way to go. the total number of rebirths i've gone through with my og character is over 850, including the loss of 300 rebirths during the version 1.1.
stocking up all valuable gems dropped, selling those unwanted (no random gem forging out of curiosity), and swapping shields from 3 attack gems to gems drop gems when using keys do help gain more all the way.
I just forged a 400 fire attack gem + 400 light attack gem + 250 shock attack gem and you know what I got? a lousy "Heavy damage Titan gem"!!! I was like, what just happened? I got duped! so unfair.
Never mix square gems of different types. Learned it the hard way myself.
Never say never. Forging elemental gems of different colour is a great way to get a new elemental gem of a different colour in the situation where:
You have a very high (but not capped, lets say its in the 300s) gem of a colour you don't want.
You have two low elemental gems of different colours (in the mid to low 100s).
Forge the three together and voila, a new high 300s gem of a new colour (random, so sometimes the colour stays the same)
except I've tried that exact thing and got a Perk gem, and another time I got a health combat gem, and a few other times I got a shield hex or some other useless thing. My point is it's not worth the risk that half the time you'll lose your elemental gem.
Finally got both attack gems after grinding over 50 RBs. Here is a picture:
