Mic problems

Hey all, I'm new to using the forums, and I'm not sure if this comes up a lot, but since I started playing gears of war (only started online on gow3) My mic hasn't been working. It's weird because on party chat it works fine, and it's very clear, but in game apprently it's just noise, and it breaks up, causing a great deal noise. the headset I have is a basic xbox 360 headset, I don't think it's the wires because like I said it works fine on party chat. any advice anyone could give me on what the problem is would be great. thank you for your time in reading this.

Never heard of that happening before. I know the audio quality in game chat is worse than in party chat, but I've never had the problem you're having.

i dont have the same exact problem. but in game chat my mic echos alot. thats why im usually in party chat or dont have my mic in

I cause echo, even when I'm muted in game chat. I have been blaming my headset.

hey i actually had exactly the same problem at one point.. i don't know what to do i either have to use my heavyduty headset or yell to be heard

Thanks for the feedback, and yes it's a weird thing to happen, I guess I'll just have to buy a decent headset. anyone know a decent headset that's less than $100 ?

I have the rocketfish, and while they are not the best, I would call them damn good for the price. I got one pair at regular price for 49 at best buy, and I recently saw them on sale for 29.99 including a free stand, so I got a second set. Maybe others can recommend some if you wanna be in the 100 range, but I would get these again in a heartbeat.

This problem often happens to me if i join a game in progress through a friend, it's fine I join the pregame lobby usually though.

Try licking the end before you stick it in. I find that improves the connection sometimes!

no prob. One of the things I like about these is that the headphones disconnect from the in-line amp so you can use them with your computer, or ipod or whatever as well. Audio quality is great for everything, listening to music, etc.
