    Default The beginning.

When Gears of War came out for the very first time (2006) I was the only kid my age who was dying to have it. I watched the commercial with anticipation of playing the game and every time I saw the commercial I would get the overwhelming urgancy to learn more about the game. I was 12 then and I am 18 now and am hoping to get that same feeling I did back then with Judgment. I just wanted to ask you all, how old were you when the Gears of War franchise was first created, what did you feel seeing the commercial for the first time, and how do you feel that this is truly the end of the beloved Gears of War franchise with the final installment; Judgment?

I thought gears 3 was the final one. I don't know, how i feel, i'm really excited for it.

Let's just hope it doesn't up like other prequels like halo reach which was a huge let down compared to 2 and 3.

I was (I think) 15 at the time, and I had just gotten my Xbox at Christmas. I had heard my friends all talking about Gears 2, and bought it because it was on sale at a store (GOTY Edition.) After I gibbed my very first Drone in campaign with the Gnasher, I knew I'd love the series.
Also, since I got the game so late, I sort of revived it for my friends. They all started playing again, which was awesome.

I was about 10 years older than you and I distinctly remember the mad world commerical. Unfortunately, I was too much into halo back then.

I was 38 when the Gears franchise started. Knew I had to have it the first time I saw the screen shots in OXM.
Full disclosure, It took me weeks to get comfortable with the controls, they were too damn complicated!
Then one day, everything seemed to click all at once, and I've been addicted ever since.

I'm stoked for Judgement. I'm glad we don't have to wait an entire console generation for the next dose of Gears.
That being said, my level of stokededness pales in comparison to my desire to play Gears on Unreal Engine 4

I was like 10 when the game came out and I had a cousin who had it and me
And him did the whole campaign co op in one day. I left the next day and thought what is the name of that game? I really want it. Unfortunately I never found out the name until about TU6 on gears 2 and thats when I really got into gears especially with friends talking about the gow3 beta coming out. I remember I used to call 1 kill a match good. Lol those were the days...

I was ten, I don't remember seein a commercial. It was my brother who saw the game and wanted it, so we got an XBox for Christmas and he saved up for Gears of War, I wasn't into it until Gears of War 2(I love Gears of War 1 too now), then as I got more into it my brother drifted away from the series. I don't think I'll ever be as excited for a game as I was for Gears of War 3. I was immensely excited for this game and the Gears of War 2 natch I played before it got to my house, my brother and I against his friend Ben and one of Ben's friends was the greatest natch ever. I am really pumped for judgment though, unfortunately I think my absolute obsession with the game has driven all my friends who liked it at all away. Doesn't help that the few times they would play with me, there were very few options on versus. Now they have all sold it. and won't be buying judgment(so I'm going to buy a few copies to share

I was 26 still had an original Xbox and my brother brought his 360 round to show me this new game to convince me to buy one as I wouldn't because the games at the time just looked like shiny Xbox games. Well gears did its job and I bought one the very next day.

Picked up my first Xbox 360 in October 2006, came with Condemned: Criminal Origins, great game IMO and still play from time to time, but I digress. Main reason? Gears of War! A month later on November 7, E-day, and I never looked back. Got GoW LE after work and a buddy of mine and myself played split screen Co-Op Campaign (didn't get LIVE until May 2007).

PS: I see some folks were mentioning ages when Gears 1 or Gears 2 came out. I was 21 when Gears 1 came out and I am 27 now

I first played Gears 1 when I was 16 years old. At first I hated the game and couldn't get used to it. So I sold it. About a year later I picked it up again at GameStop for 29.99 and loved it. I didn't even know the game was in co-op so I played the game with my friends. I got so into it a few months before Gears 2 came out I unlocked the first seriously... But I really become a hardcore gears fan with gears 2. Now I'm happy to say I play gears 3 almost every day since the release date.

Was about 11-12, and played it with my brother for weeks after he got it at mid night, From then on I was addicted, playing it constantly when he wasn't. Now unfortunately I'm older, and he is too. He is now a PC gamer, and has forgotten his Gears game. lol fun to reminisce.

I got Xbox live sometime in 2004. I got my Xbox 360 on the 13th of January, 2006. (Remembered because of my first ever achievement on CoD2.)

I wasn't excited about GoW to be honest. I was more excited for Halo 3 because I was a Halo 2 online veteran.

I got GoW1 for Christmas in 2006. I had opened every single present except one. I thought that, because of the shape and size, it would be a book. At that time I was 12 and was not happy about getting a book for Christmas.

I opened it, and it was Gears of War limited edition! I was so surprised and super pumped after that. As soon as I played it, I loved it.

I got an Xbox 360 because of Gears of War. Had to have it, saw the commercial and the gameplay and I was hooked. I was never big into shooters, I never played CoD or Halo, and that hasn't changed either.

I was 22 when GoW 1 came out. I feel old because of some of these posts, lol.

Saw the mad world advert on TV and was really enticed, then played it at my friends house and decided I had to have it. Just had to get an xbox of my own with Live aswell

Did all that and knew it was worth it, the first gears game was the one that really introduced me to online gaming aswell, bought a mic after playing a little and then met some people to play with.

Been a fanboy ever since, Epic could Market anything from get fit with Augustus Cole to Ignacious Carmine's Pro Torquebow Tag and I'd atleast try it so Judgement is an obvious purchase for me.

Rod was questioned about a fifth Gears game in an interview about Judgment and OverRun. Again, it depends on the reception of the game - if people like it and are hungry for more, then that's what they'll do.

Was 39 when I first played Gears 1 and I must say I think it was the best of the trilogy but that's natural as it was the first and very original...

Don't tell me you weren't freaked out the first time you encounter the Beserker..It stopped my "old" heart for a second or 2..

But there are all great games in there own right. roll on Judgement!!

I saw the first trailer in May 2005 and knew I needed a 360 so I could play Gears. Got my Collector's Edition on 11/7/06(I was 23 at the time) and I've been in love ever since. I was disappointed with how Gears 2 multiplayer turned out, but Gears 3 was a return to greatness IMO.
