    Default semi auto longshot

    soo, just from the E3 footage of over run mode...looks like the longshot is semi auto. im not sure if this is going to be the capacity of the weapon throughout the entire mp portion...but does anyone have any info on this yet?

    i just cant see the longshot with that much power...you can pop off 2 shots for a down (damage adjust?) in a pretty fast succession, and it also almost looked like the zoom had been modified to give it sort of a quick scope appeal...

    just trying to think in my head, gnasher vs longshot battles now? Id hate to see the traditional lonshot, which has been arguably one of the hardest weapons to get use to (rewarding), be turned into a spamming rifle of doom...

    or am i just completely wrong about everything? lol.

    I believe it's for OverRun only.

    However, I don't think it's been revealed if it will be in regular Gears MP either.

    i have to wonder with the semi auto sort of being tested in the events playlists of gow3...maybe its still yet to be determined? but from what i saw, if they put it in the traditional mp modes as it was in the overrun footage...i will be sad.

I think the semi auto sniper is only an attribute of the Sniper Class in order to make him unique from your run of the mill MP "guy who picked ups sniper".     I agree with most people in saying that there is no way the snipe will make it to normal MP as semi auto. But if the snipe wasn't semi-auto, it might be worthless in OverRun, because as of now I can't see the scout's beacon doing to much. I doubt the average overrun player will be camping a corner on horde waisting time he could be out slaughtering.

    Unless you are pretty good, it's hard to play with only the Longshot, most people swap out to another weapon at close range. For this reason it would probably be an unforgiving class to play on Overrun if you only had a sniper, they've probably only added this feature to Overrun to balance the classes.

    yea from what ive seen (ummmm spinning boom shield/lawnmower blades - hellz yea) it looks as if there WILL be advantages given to Cog players in a pretty brilliant way to incorporate human capabilities that can compete with the heavy locust arsenal...wouldnt make much sense to give baird laser eyes or anything like that, so i can understand if it stays in the game mode.

    I myself would be fine with it in MP, but seeing how it would anger many, I guess I'll hope that it stays out.

    Well EPIC wouldn't remove the only Sniper in traditional Mp and it should remain 1 shot then reload not this stupid semi auto thing and saying that in overrun it is a good idea as the scout only has a boltok as a second weapon so the semi auto makes them more useful to the team that is why I think they made it semi auto

    I would hate for semi-auto to make it into traditional Judgment MP. It would make the Longshot a 'spray 'n' pray' weapon and overall make it more casual/noobish. No thanks.

    I myself am a huge sniper fan in the GoW franchise. I think multiplayer would be ruined due to people shooting twice to down you like the active sniper in GoW 1. Just my opinion though.

    i hate it every since they brought it into gears 3 events and i rather have the normal longshot which take skill instead of a noob shoting it 3 to 4 times and they we think they are a brillient sniper

    to be fair, i think it works in the current playlists its in...considering its usually something like a torque or boomshot paired with it, people wouldnt ever use the damn thing otherwise.

    I would like the semi sniper as long as they would give it the damage as in the boom snipes and a little bit of recoil it would be great. irarely get doned bij that sniper in the shotty snipe playlist

    The sniper is probably my favorite weapon in the series, just b/c ... "I love that pop" ... when I get a headshot with it. I don't think it would be quite as bad as people wasting the first shot as soon as they pick up the sniper, in order to get an active down, in Gears 1. But it would be pretty close.

    I gotta say I dont want non headshot downing by sniper alone (eg target has no other damage on it), and I dont want people spraying and praying for heads either.
    I hate the word Adapt when it is used in the context of shooters. All it is is a bad justification for when your favorite weapon is onto a good thing. Near launch all the sawed off fans were saying adapt to the gnasher community. After the sawed off was nerfed the sawed off community complained and guess what the gnasher fans were saying.... thats right adapt.Please take the time to read this thread

    How about if the semi auto is in the multiplayer then they just weaken the bullets, so it would take 3 to down but still one in the head ?

    That's essentially what the current version is. 3-4 shot down, iirc. The problem is people feel with more quick/"easy" opportunity for headshots, the skill level goes down a peg. The number of talented headhunters is in no short supply with the current Longshot, but the learning curve would take a kick in the 'nads if semi-auto replaced the original for standard versus (if it'll resemble the classic multiplayer we've known up until now at all, at that. I doubt Overrun will be the only playlist to deviate from traditional Gears status quo). That and all the headless chickens running around would tear up the forums.

    I personally wouldn't mind one way or the other, can't say I haven't enjoyed the events featuring the tweaked version, but I'd sooner go pop-less for the rest of my days than to see anything like the active down Gears 1 Longshot return. If anything, the tweaked version being geared towards support rather than being an outright power weapon would be nifty. Every now and then I'll shoot an active bullet/snub down someone attack my teammates rather than risk a missed pop/dead buddy. Maybe make it like the Hammerburst/Boltok in Campaign/Overrun, where you can only get a headshot if the target is already full red, as opposed to the regular one getting single shot pops.
