Default Community Porting of Gears of War 2 and 3?

Clearly, there are a lot of dedicated and talented modders on these forums. I hope I'm not crossing any boundaries when I ask if there is a chance, even in the slightest, that Microsoft/Epic would allow the community to work on ports for the rest of the Gears franchise. While creating custom content through the UDK and porting a game may be completely separate skills, their both still talents we can through perseverance.

Would this be a feasible idea, even if the community offered to do it for free and allowed Microsoft to reap all the benefits? And if so, would the talented modders and programmers out there be willing to attempt the task?

we can't port gears of war 2 and 3 cause we havent got any rights to decide where gears will be published. Also one question. Do you want to spend your all time making for free a game where you do not get anything and someone else would get money for your product?

I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to suggest to Microsoft or Epic to let the community try porting. And as for your second point, I definitely agree that having someone else take credit for your work is tough to stomach. But if this was the only way to bring the sequels to PC, would you rather not have it see the light of day at all?

For the record though, this is all just imagination running wild. The realist in me tells me that no way would this ever happen. But the optimist in me is dying to find any possible way for Gears of War 2 and 3 to arrive on the PC. Sorry if my delusions irk you :/

It's such a crying shame that GFWL is a direct competitor to Steam. If they had released Gears of War on Steam, I'm sure they would've made a large profit from PC sales (such was the case of Alan Wake).

I do not understand, but you wish you could afford to make the mod for gears of war 2 and 3? see also I wish it were possible, but to do this requires the epic games did the PC version of sudetti games. I'm also making sure that the gears of caretteristiche of 2 and 3 are used in a mod for the pc version of gears of war, such as new weapons. but there are several problems such as statich mesh. are static elements such as rigid figures such as loaders used weapons. so it is difficult enough that we can hope the mod for Gears of War 2 and 3 ....

I'm suggesting that instead of Epic or Microsoft hiring and paying for a team of professional programmers to port Gears of War 2 and 3, they should hand it off to the community who would then port the games themselves free of charge. The downside of this would be that Microsoft will probably reap 100% of the profit, but at least we'd have the complete series.

This is true, if he would allow to play xbox360 games on windows 8 would not do first to bring gears of war 2 and 3 on pc?
