    Theron Elite
    Theron Elite
    Hydra
    Skorge
    RAAM

Onyx Guard (Better than Delta Gear)

Maybe being able to deploy the Tempest like a regular unit wouldn't be fair unless there were some strict limits. The Locust could get the ability to call down a beam from the Tempest kinda like the CoG'S hammer.

That would mean the Centaur tank would be Tech 2, with the actual CoG tank (seen in comics I believe) as an expensive Tech 3 upgrade.

I'm trying to have only around 3 units per building so Gears could use a "circle menu" like the one in Halo Wars that worked great for a controller.

So you would have the 3 units on the right side and each unit would have its own upgrades on the left side of the circle.

With the COG headquarters/Locust Nexus the worker unit would be at the top of the "circle" (at 12 o'clock)

RTS isn't really one of my favorite genres, so no I don't want a Gears of War RTS. They should better do a Gears RPG. Think of a mixture of Gears, Fallout and Gothic (Does anybody know this outside of Europe?), that would be great.

    Gears of War 2 1750/1750

Or with a more Halo Wars feeling:
RAAM (Starts with Sword and Kryll)
Character upgrade- Tech 1 Troika turret replaces Sword - Tech 2 Kryll shield (increases damage resistance) - Tech 3 Riding the green Reaver (RAAM's shadow)
Special ability - Tech 1 Kryllstorm - Tech 2 Kryll Hurricane - Tech 3 Kryll tsunami
(Kryll blocks off an entire area, killing everything within its range. Units left in the storm are unable to move out)
    Unique unit: Theron Elite

Skorge (Starts with single sided chainsaw staff)
Character upgrade - Tech 1 Double chainsaw staff for increased damage- Tech 2 adds Gorgon pistol for ranged attacks - Tech 3 Riding the Hydra
Special ability - Tech 1 Call of the Rockworm - Tech 2 Scream of the Rockworm - Tech 3 Tremble of the Rockworm
(The giant Rockworm appears and does massive damage to everything within its range)
Unique unit: Kantus - Ticker squad (1 Kantus, 4 Tickers) -> Tickers spawn back when used due to the addition of the Kantus

    Etc.

    I could see this work.
    Gears 1 1160/1250 | Gears 2 1750/1750 | Gears 3 1900/2000 | Bulletstorm 1000/1000

meh, I don't want the heroes to have special upgrades, becuase the CoG wouldn't have any good upgrades instead of a plain ol' increase in atk, def, or speed.

RTS games are my favorite type of game. I'm just not sure it would work with Gears too well. It really isn't much different then Halo. A human race, alien, and then lambent/flood that might be included, but probably not playable. I just don't feel like 2 races works very well. Most of the best RTS games like Age of Empires have around 10 races. Starcraft is one of the few exceptions with 3 races but they are so different and original that it all works out. I'm sure they could make a decent one after learning from Halo Wars huge mistakes but I still don't think it would be anything amazing.

Though I agree that 2 races don't do well in a RTS game, but I think Halo wars, (and in a sense Gears) could make it work.

You know what...I'm going to make a Lambent faction and add it in the OP and see what you guys think.

    updated the OP:

    Lambent force

    Imulsion Hive (Main Building)

    Polyp//worker unit
    Formers//10 units//Tech level 0
    Lambent wretches//5 units//Tech level 0
    Lambent Seeder*//1 unit//Tech level 2

Mass Graves: (bodies of CoG and Locust "feed" the Lambent by using their corpses as vessels)

Generates 10 Food every 3 seconds for the Lambent

Imulsion pool: Raises tech level to unlock new units and upgrades

Tech Level 1: Locust civil War
Tech Level 2: Flooding of Jacinto
    Tech Level 3: Cricital Mass

Imulsion vents: Tech level 2 to build, Upgrades the Lambent

Critical state: adds 75 to your population//Tech level 3
Accelerated Evolution: Reduces unit build time by a third
Upgrade Drudge Tower: Tech level 2 and Tech level 3

Lambent Stalk: Tech level 1 to build

    Lambent Drone//5 units//Tech level 1
    Drudge//2 units//Tech level 1
    Lambent Theron//1 unit//Tech level 2 (Elite Drudge)

Heavy Stalk: Tech level 2 to build

    Gunker//Artillery unit//Tech level 2
    Lambent Berserker//Juggernaut unit//Tech level 3

    Special powers for Lambent:

Lambent Brumak: (Uber unit/Tower) Select an area of the map, and after a 5 second earthquake, a Lambent Brumak emerges from the selected point. This unit has super-high health, only able to be taken down by an entire army, however it cannot move, and has a short range attack, so keep your distance!

Imulsion Sinkhole: Select an area on the map, and any units in the selected area will fall into a pool of imulsion, killing them instantly. Half the Food cost of the units killed will be converted into Food for the player (example: 3 units killed which cost a total of 300 Food will give the player 150 Food

*Lambent Seeder: Spreads Imulsion fumes that can heal Lambent units that aren't in combat

You may notice that there aren't as many units for the Lambent than there are for the COG or Locust. While the COG and Locust only have to build 1-3 of each buildings to reach optimal production, the Lambent have to produce 5-7 Stalks, naturally. It is wise for the other factions to stop the Lambent before they spread too far.

True, probably the reason why just the Covenant has playable leaders and the UNSC just leader powers in HW.

I used to love RTS when I was younger on the PC but I wasn't a massive gamer until I got a console (lazy and poor you see, plus I know sweet FA about pc's). Only one I tried on the xbox was C&C: RA. I think I managed a total of 2 or 3 levels before packing it in.

But I would love a gears RTS game though. It would be the only title that would make me want to an RTS on a console again.

God I love the gears universe .
I have nothing cool or witty to say here.

I really like the idea of a gears RTS. I grew up on Warcraft III so I would really like the idea of adding heros. My only complaint is that the rift worm sounds sort of OP.

It has a five second warning, Your "advisor/voice person" would say "Riftworm incoming" or "What is this? An Earthquake?" Similar to how in Starcraft they would say: "Nuclear launch detected"

You would be able to see where it is going to emerge due to the ground cracking and shaking. You would have some time to get your units out of the way if you are watching them already.

Same goes for the Hammer Strike for the COG.

I'm on the fence on this one. I would probably play it because I love Gears and like RTS games, but they are so hit or miss on consoles. Plus I'm just not sure how well Gears and RTS would fit each other. Part of what makes Gears good is the brutal in your face action, RTSs obviously don't have that. But I think with the right story and right developer, it could be really good. Too bad Ensemble closed, halo wars was pretty good and played great for a console RTS.

You know what would be a funny map?

A map in the shape of Gridlock

Sure Gridlock itself would be too small for an RTS map, but have the whole city of Char as the map, but in the shape of Gridlock

A RTS that combines the free-building and worker class of Starcraft with the simplicity of Halo Wars, with the awesomesauce of Gears.

The campaign will be in two parts, the first part will have the player take control of the Locust forces, while the 2nd part will be played from the CoG perspective. (Kind of like Starcraft in-which you play as all 3 races)

The story will take place after the Lightmass offensive following the Locust as they rise again to fight the humans, their campaign will go through Skorge's rise to power, the sinking of Ilima, all the way through to the assualt on Jacinto.

The CoG campaign will start with the evacuation of Jacinto, the battle of Vectes, all the way to the assualt on Azura.

Both sides (CoG and Locust) have 2 resources they can use for making units and buildings. (Food and Imulsion) Both sides can generate Food by creating CoG Farms, or Locust Slaughterhouses. Imulsion however needs to be mined by either the CoG worker, or the Locust Miner. (Two Imulsion mining sites are at each base at the start of a match and at certain points on the map)

    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______________

There is more stuff I can add, like:

Individual upgrades for units (like drones upgrading to Grenadiers)

Heroes: Theron Elite, RAAM, Skorge, Marcus, Hoffman, Cole, etc...

Costs per unit (CoG Gear = 75 Food, Centaur tank = 350 Imulsion, 200 Food)

    Neutral/Hostile units (Stranded, Lambent)

But I don't feel like adding too much stuff.

So what do you guys think? I would seriously...(lol pun) love a RTS version of Gears of War, we always had the squad, individual view of Gears, but don't you want to know what else was happening when Marcus and Dom went underground to sink Jacinto, or how about the battle of Azura when Delta went inside to find Adam Fenix.

While Gears of War would make for a decent to good setting for an RTS, I would be disappointed if it was developed by the main folks we have left on the gears team, and not just a different studio licensed what they need to get it done. (Would rather just have more gears, then to much of a spin-off)

Cause I am not a fan of RTS, and it just can not be done on a Console good enough to justify IMO.

I think it would be better if it was more like Dawn of War than StarCraft. I.e. focused more on capturing and holding certain points than building bases.

The only structures that the locusts need are three different sizes of emergence holes that produce different types of units. The only structures the COG need are fortifications. They can 'train' their troops with some UI panel and instead of coming out of buildings, they can be dropped off by air units.
CoG are good for nothing but target practice and lunch.

lol people complain when someone starts a new topic saying "we already have a million of these threads!", yet the same people complain when someone looks up an old thread and 'bumps' it, instead of starting a new one.
