So, I was looking at videos of the ink grenade being OP and then I came across one video where the ink stuck to a guy and he died, and an idea popped into my head:
Why not make the ink a "Vick's Vapor Rub" grenade?
So, here's the concept:
Thrown:
Upon impact, the ink explodes like a water balloon, splashing ink over anyone caught in the radius of the grenade. The closer you are, the more ink gets on your character, and if you were too close, the ink will remain on your person until you die. The ink slowly (over a period of 7-10 seconds, but the key word is slowly) poisons the victim while the splotches of ink on their person releases vapors that slowly damages any of their nearby teammates (I don't have exact numbers of the AoE radius). After a while, the ink should simply fade away. The character affected by the grenade should cough and wheeze like the current inks.
Planted:
Upon being triggered, the ink explodes in the same way as above.
Stuck:
Upon being stuck, the victim turning into a walking ink grenade. Upon detonation, the splash originates from the victim, splashing those around him, covering him completely in ink (if possible, but this is only cosmetic). The concussion instantly downs the victim (like being stuck with a smoke grenade) and the ink kills him. A Grenade Hug can be achieved if the player is close enough to the person who stuck him/her when they detonate.
How is this better?
Besides the removal of the ink stun (as there will be no need for it), I feel that this grenade fits its name a bit better than the current style since, like ink in a pen, it's long-lasting and actually uses the liquid part of the inks instead of just being vapor. It would be like throwing a water balloon full of ink at someone! Instead of AoD (area of denial, which the flame grenade does rather well currently), this grenade would be more for separating teammates and would be a great tool for fighting Team Camp-n'-Rifle since it's more of a supplemental damage grenade (although it should be powerful enough to do well when thrown by itself). People who complain about restrictive grenade would be happy since this grenade will have no movement restrictions attached. Not to mention I've always liked poison weapon when done right
Questions i'm sure will pop up:
Q. If I rub against my teammates, will they become covered in ink and emit a poison cloud, too?
A. To me, this would seem a bit OP, but I'm open to suggestions.
Q. Will there be an ink cloud left behind and what happens when I walk through or stand inside it?
A. No. It would actually be more of a pool of ink on the ground, and if you roll through it or stand in it, a small bit (not enough to kill or down you by itself, but enough so that it hurts) get stuck on your person. However, this small bit will not affect your teammates. There will be vapors emitting from the spot so that if you stand in it long enough, it will kill you.
Q. How much damage would the vapors do to teammates standing around the initial victim?
A. An equal amount or more. The idea of this grenade is to create a moving AoD and ultimately separate teammates from each other.
Q. If I'm "splashed" and another of my teammates is "splashed" (that's what I'm calling it) and I'm in his vapor radius, will I be affected?
A. Your teammate's vapor and your splashes will stack with each other and kill you that much faster. It would behoove you to stay away from your "splashed" teammates.
Q. Will the vapor be visible?
A. On the affected parties, there should be a cloud around them that's not too thick but still noticeable (like this, actually). On the pool of ink left behind, the vapors would be very low to the ground, like imulsion vapors.
Q. Why did you call it the "Vick's Vapor Rub" grenade?
A. Have you ever been around someone who rubbed any amount of that stuff on their chest
Q. How many do you get per pick-up?
A. Unfortunately, just like classic inks, you would only get 1.
Sorry if this thread is way too detailed, but it's a bit complicated so I wanted to provide as much detail as I could so people have a good idea when they're posting suggestions. Also, I'm very open to suggestions, criticisms (as long as they're constructive), and more questions.
