Default Effort and resources all put into Overrun?

Very worried about all the resources being put into Overrun, and Gears desperately needs a well written and well put together campaign. Not to mention, I think Gears 3 MP isn't bad but many improvements could be made especially in the map department. Good maps need testing and so does good MP.

Overrun, with all its variables and classes will take a monumental effort to test and polish, and I don't really even care about it. Don't get me wrong, im sure it will be *neat* but I'm disappointed that the effort is going into this and not other areas of the game. TbH, I think gears 3 made too many additions to Horde, another area that just isn't as fun as MP or Campaign.

We still don't know every aspect of Judgment. There could be improvements to other game modes, we just have to wait and see.

It's only being promoted solo. They have an entire team working on the MP system. overrun is a very small part.

Also, they have PCF working exclusively on the Campaign. Stop being so negative.

It doesn't bother you that the game is less than a year out and they have shown nothing but overrun? Its good to hear PCF are working on campaign...I think. As long as its nothing like Bulletstorm.

It's not like Bulletstorm. It's back to the gritty and dark campaign like gears 1.

Also, we didn't get anything but Beast and Horde for a VERY long time in gears 3.

Overun is in the spotlight as it is the new gimmick. I'm stoked to play it.

Actually the Campaign has me more excited, as new writers , and a return to the "dark" Gears we loved in Geras 1 sounds like its coming back. They also changed the campaign by opening up the classified missions. Again stoked.

MP, yes I'm concerned here. The altered game controls have me worried, they may work for Overun due to classes, but how will they perform when class is not an issue. We will see.

We're hearing a lot about OverRun b/c it is a new and fresh addition to the Gears of War franchise. We're not hearing a lot about the other modes b/c we already know how they operate.

They say dark and gritty, screenshots say over wise with a super young Cole and even brighter looking, smoother looking environments.

We didn't get anything about MP, and I was seriously let down with the omission of Guardian and the cheapest nades to date.

I'm not trying to argue you alone man, just general concerns of mine.

Cole is 14 years younger than in gears 1. Do you want him to look 40 years old? Also, we've gotten a lot of dark images. and the tone is annihilation of the human race. It will definitely be dark.

The Guardian thing sucked, but we got it back. Nades, eh, not really bothered by em really. ink stun, kinda.

Of course there would be a lot stock put into Overrun. It has new game mechanics and a whole new style of gameplay. That requires work.

They said that traditional MP would return, but not as we know it. I'd like to hear more about the regular MP, if they plan on changing it like they claim.

They have stated that they are working a lot on the campaign, Overrun is what's new here so it's no surprise that's what is being advertised.

I have to agree on the images we have seen so far looking pretty sun-drenched..I hope we get some genuinely moody and sinister environments out of Judgement.

Gears 1 had a pretty extensive night section that had a generally evil atmosphere. Gears Judgment could try to do something like that (although I doubt they'll add Kryll to the game.)

Yeah it did, which is cool, but if there are missions in the game that are during daylight, I'm still okay with that. The game can still be scary. Gears 1 had plenty of daylight missions as well. I know what you are saying though.

Dark doesnt necessarily mean drab colors like Gears 1, whose color scheme was abominable. If you look at the theme and underlying plot to the game Gears 3 is actually probably the bleakest given the state of things for everyone involved, there isnt even anywhere on land to inhabit at that point. Gears 1 and 2, you still had a government, supplies, an army, a stronghold, you had support from control, rations, food, PEOPLE. Gears 3 was pure desperation, dont let the bright visuals mask that things were bad in Gears 3 and it was literally their final chance. Screw up there, and its game over for humanity.

If you want to talk visuals, I think Judgment looks more like Gears 2 to me, a mixture of both as far as story line, its going to be probably the most jarring and most aggressive and unsettling because we are going to literally see humanity being annihilated.

My post was from a primarily visual perspective. Gears 1 had, in my opinion, the gloomiest atmosphere (although this may have been because, as you mentioned, the color scheme.) Gears 3 generally lacked this dark feeling. I found it hard to feel the "last hope" emotion when the characters are marching on a bright and sunny path to a shining golden palace.

I agree with you that Gears 2 had a bit of both. While it had was bright at parts, noticeably Jacinto near the end, it also had the dreary and foreboding Locust caves. I hope you're right, in that Judgement will be similar to 2. While I'm fine with having bright and colorful visuals, I don't want the series to completely lose the darker nature of the first game.

I'm not worried, Beast was the "big new mode" for Gears 3 that got a lot of attention when Gears 3 was first being revealed and it turned out fine for the most part.

If they added the scoring features to Gears I think that would be awesome though. Not like killstyles, or whatever they were called, but if you get an Oscar Mike, then a Super (therefore a Double kill as well), you should get some kind of score multiplier.

The atmosphere in Gears 3 didn't covey a very dark feeling. And the storyline was awefull. I'm trying to play campaign again and its really not that great.

Hopefully the story will be better. But more importantly the atmosphere can be improved. I really hope we get a filter like Gears 1 had so I can play in gray drab and not bother anyone else.

I hear you. Everyone interprets literary things differently. The game was originally planned in the winter season. I'm guessing the change was to prevent the player feeling too oppressed, or at least partly, and convey the light at the end of the tunnel feeling, just my two cents.

EPIC knows what made them rich and they know what will keep them rich, and it is certainly not arcady class based gameplay. It is classic MP, and they know that, EPIC can see that thousands of people are playing versus while only a few hundred are playing beast and maybe a thousand are playing horde. I don't have a Masters in marketing, but I'm sure EPIC would rather have less people continue to play their game for a long period of time than a large number of people buy their game and abandon it shortly thereafter when that WOW! factor is gone. Overrun looks like a lot of fun, but I highly doubt it will have the replayability that classic MP has had for 6 years now. As for the campaign, in the concept art book, they claimed it was by far their biggest challenge in the game and they literally started from scratch, but according to the sales and reviews which praise the game for an outstanding singleplayer and coop experience, EPIC will likely invest heavily in the campaign once again and make it even better. As for horde and beast, same ol' same ol'.

Gears 2 over anything Judgement so far. I'm not going to be too quick to Judge (lol), but a spinning Boomshield? Really? That's what horrible gameplay elements we have now.
