The community in Gears 3 is actually better than it was in Gears 1. There were so many people fooling around and doing nothing (like just dancing around in circles and shooting Lancer like crazy).

Out of the thousands of rounds in Gears 3 across QM and Ranked, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a team fool around or trying to sabotage the match. If I had a choice, the preplanned Gladiator Gnasher battle is at least fun and a test of skill (basically 1v1s throughout the match). The ones running around in circles and doing nothing are more annoying, but sometimes funny.

But I also hate ones who join Rank and just don't play. That must be some amazing 10-minute phone call or bathroom break.

They didn't because I was still in the match recording their stupid antics. You never know someone else may have joined when I left.

At least that I would do, not sure if hes actually a 'friend' or not, but most people wouldn't try to ban their friends..
This isn't the point. This argument can then be applied to any match ppl are screwing around/idling/boosting in. Why not just leave? Because the fact is I shouldn't have to. This isn't permitted.

Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should.

If someone joins for a split second nd gets video it's lights out. Idle boosting in public is not permitted and a bannable offense without exception.

So once Gears 3 releases, when you use the torque, take a bit of pride in knowing you helped make it better

This is a similar question so I figured I'd just ask here:

Can I get in any sort of trouble for leaving a public campaign game paused for a prolonged amount of time?

I don't believe so. It would certainly be annoying and cause people to quit, but it's simple enough for people to host/find new games. There also isn't as much at stake in campaign vs. MP (stats, competition, etc.)

As for people screwing around in MP, I also don't think it's bannable, just highly vexing. It happens all the time in other shooters such as Halo, and since the person is certainly playing (to use the term loosely), it's not idle boosting. Again, if you run into people like this, report/avoid them, and quit the game. Public matches are easy to drop in/out of.

Xbox has a proven track record of ignoring people who use hack lobbies, wall hacks, mod controllers, etc and admit to doing so while being reported. I therefore doubt profoundly that you'll see any banning going on for simply playing stupidly or trolling. If they don't consistently police actual violations of terms of service, there's no hope for stopping the kind of trash OP describes.

I don't mean an Xbox Live ban, I mean a Gears 3 ban which Joe Graf handles.
