I would love a Savage Kantasai.

The Savage Kantasai is native to the tropical regions of the Bahamas. Natives worship the Kantasai and believe that the notorious screech is a sign of the end of the world and offerings must be made in order to please the 12 foot framed monsters. In native law it is believed that the Kantasai once reigned supreme in the Kehert Plam Region, A mountainous locale once beaming with life and prosperity, now just like the Kantasai are scarce and endangered. Animal associations in the Bahamas have now deemed the Savage Kantasai endangered and illegal to hunt, the once delicious Caribbean delicacy is now protected and any hunting of the creature will result in hefty fines and possible jail time.

The Savage Kantasai hunt in packs, working in a wonderful motion to catch prey, the main being moles and other small rodents. Food is scarce and every month 1 of every 5 Kantasai die of starvation. With breeding occurring only between the Alpha male and female of the pack, populations are dwindling. Animal associations are now feeding the Kantasai periodically. The Kantasai have a keen sense of smell and as a pack use stealth and numbers to ambush larger prey such as the Buffalo. Their razor sharp claws and numbers are too much for even the heaviest of Buffalo to shrug off once captured. Once in the grasps of a Kantasai it is a slow and painful death for the Buffalo, who's windpipe is slowly crushed. Alpha males and females feast first while the rest of the pack scent mark and screech to lure of any other animals. A prey such as the Buffalo can feed an entire pack of Kantasai, some reaching numbers nearing 10, for a week.

It's summer and breeding time for the Kantasai. Only alpha males mate not only with the alpha female, but all other females in the group. They can mate up to 80 times a day with one partner and has been seen to mate with up to 5 partners a day. Mating occurs for one week. After which all females are protected. Pregnancy can last up to 3 weeks, once they are born, cubs are protected by all other male Kantasai. One of these cubs will one day become the alpha male. They will stay under the protection of the pack for up to 6 months, following which only the strongest of the cubs will survive and the pack will elect it's own leader. This strict hierarchy has been successful for the Savage Kantasai for nearly a millennial.

Winter and the Kantasai now take advantage of the larger number of prey scavenging the forests for food as they look to hibernate. This is the last chance for the Kantasai to get some good meals in before the harsh winter and the lack of prey. Failure will result in most of the pack dieing of starvation and the cubs will be left to fend for themselves. The winter months are tough on the Kantasai and even tougher on the females of the group who are in general 2 feet shorter and have less fat, leading to 1 in every 2 dieing over the next few months.

Spring and the Kantasai cubs have moved on to form their own pack. An alpha male has been chosen and he has chosen his mate, the alpha female of the group. The cycle begins again.

The Savage Kantasai has reigned supreme in the islands of the Bahamas for centuries. And as population numbers increase it seems as though they will for centuries to come.
