Default Consider distance to player when playing sound in Matinee

    Hi there!

I have some doors in my map that play some sounds when opening and closing, playback being controlled through Matinee along with the InterpActor animation. My problem is that when enemies open a door that is far away from my player, the sound is played as loud as if it was in front of me (there is no attenuation management according to door distance to player).

What should I do in order to make sounds take this into account? Can I do it with Matinee or do I need to use audio actors?

    Thanks!

Put an attenuation node in your sound cue. If that doesn't solve it, you need a combination of that and a play sound node in kismet if I remember correctly.

I tried these two options but they didn't work. My concern is that these sounds don't have any location parameter, so how can they know if they are far or close from the player? How can I set it?

Maybe you should check the doors actor properties - in the first tab (InterpActor) you can add sound to different situations like for example start sound for opening or closing doors.

Add a sound actor to the environment and play it through kismet Play Sound action. To add a sound just drag the sound cue into the environment. You can mess with the properties for volume dropoff, radius it can be heard from and stuff like that. Hook this object up into the Play Sound action in Kismet and you'll be good to go. (You do need attenuation connected in the sound cue I believe.)

    This alternative worked perfectly. Thanks!
