Consistent Freezing

Ok, now I know I'm on the right forum for this one.

Two nights in a row, my game has consistently frozen under the exact same conditions. The other night, I was playing Beast mode with a couple of friends of mine on Checkout. We made it all the way to wave 12 and my game froze up on me. I immediately ejected the disk to prevent my player data from getting reset, no big deal. I chalked the whole thing up as a fluke. Then last night, I was playing Beast mode with a couple of my friends again. Same scenario, we got all the way to wave 12 and my game froze on me. I immediately ejected my disk to prevent my player data from getting reset. Conveniently, at the same time my game froze, my buddy's game froze as well. He ejected his disk, but his data got reset. He was level 32 red and suddenly he got reset to level 95 white. Fortunately for him, he made a backup file of his player data on the cloud and on a thumbdrive so everything's shipshape for him right now.

The problem is in this consistent freezing of my game 2 nights in a row under the same conditions: Private Beast mode on casual difficulty during wave 12 on Checkout. How does this happen? Is there a way to prevent this? Does there need to be a patch to fix it?

This happens often in horde as well. Some of the things that we have worked out on the horde side (I don't play all that much beast) is freezes tend to happen most if you restart waves over and over. Many feel like restarting the game right before you do a run is helpful as well, and restarting after you finish, before you do another run. I do occasionally freeze still, mostly when trying to help someone get their insane horde onyx or something like that. So I would try a restart before a run, and in-between runs as well.

I don't recall the last time the game froze on me during Horde. Coincidentally, I was helping a buddy of mine get 200 wretch kills so he could unlock the Instagib Melee mutator for Horde. I'm only writing about this problem because of the consistency of it. The game froze 2 nights in a row on wave 12 of Beast on Checkout. It's got me a little worried.

I don't know how you play horde in terms of mutators and difficulty, but I never froze in horde either until I started playing insane with hard mutators. I haven't played public in many months, but I never froze there. Most of the freezing seems to be on insane with hard mutators. Almost seems like it's too much for the game to handle or something.

And I hear ya about the consistency, I wonder if that's a coincidence or not. Were you restarting the level, or just going through normal? I'd be curious to know if there was anything else going on at the time. Outside of trying to earn some medals I haven't played much beast, I think I have about 400 waves or something like that, so I haven't played enough to notice any kind of patterns like I have in horde.

We were going through normally. I think we had to restart a previous wave along the way, but we didn't need to restart wave 12. I think what might've happened is 2 out of 3 of us were playing as Beserkers, tearing stuff up like Beserkers do, and we probably had too much going on at the same time and the game froze up. But still, the consistency worries me.

I agree, Insane and hard mutators seems to be a definative trigger. I've been playing on Hardcore these days and I definately freeze less. Also I would reccomend a fan or cooler that attaches to your Xbox.

I would say for sure that is as good a way as any to reproduce screen 3reeze > has the most probability on Beast and on checkout, once you have a berserker smashing about and people are throwing grenades and boom shot explosions happen all at the same time someone is pretty much like to gow3reeze

I've had Beast freeze on me quite a lot and it doesn't make a difference what difficulty you are playing on. More often than not it is at the start of wave 12. This is probably due to there being more going on with more enemies, 1 or 2 beserkers, boomers etc. One thing that i've noticed (after 18,000+ waves played) is that it only happens on maps that are included on the disc. I've never froze playing beast on the Fenix Rising or Forces of Nature maps. As for Horde..i don't know whether people have froze on the map pack maps or not.
