Default New here with a Question about Open World.

    Hello everyone,

I'm new at the forums, and I was looking to see if I could get some answers as I could not find them anywhere, so here it goes:

    1. Is UDK and/or UE3 able to support an Open World game? Not an MMORPG, a single player game, like Skyrim for example.

    2. If so, is there a "SIZE" limit to the world that UDK/UE3 can handle?

    3. Physics and Blood&Gore. Can UDK/UE3 create very good "realistic" things such as, lets say in a medieval game, you slice someones arm off, or the head, or HAND, or even legs. I'm talking...is it able to create all these varieties rather than having only Head decapitation?

    4. IF YES to #1, is it possible that this Engine, or any other that you may know, can create an Open World game with NO loading screens? Think of Skyrim again, except being able to enter cities, caves, ships and such without loading.

    5. Also, if UDK doesn't support it and UE3 does, what exactly is needed to get UE3? Do I need a license or do I need to buy the whole thing from them at a..undisclosed..price? or..something.. confused on this part.

I believe this is all for now, I appreciate any and all advice.

    Thanks!

First off welcome to the forums, but to be honest you should really start with the search function. All of the questions you are seeking have been answered multiple times over the years with Level streaming etc. Good luck to you!

Sigh. I'm gonna be nice but let me just say...
The time it took you to write that could've been used to actually help me with my questions. Thanks for your pointless suggestion and waste of your time, but I did state that I could not find them anywhere. Even then, I sincerely doubt that "ALL" of these questions have been answered, because if they have, I cannot find them.

    Thanks.

Double sigh, that is where you are wrong.
How do you know that I am familiar with the max players in UDK or the correct usage of level streaming to achieve what you are looking for? That is quite an assumption from you good sir. Take note, they are here. I have seen them before. Try searching MMO and don't be such a ________.

You really need to learn where the search box is.. >.< [ Dec0y was 100% correct when stating that all of these HAVE been answered.]

    Question 1: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...pen-world-game

    Question 2: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...Map-Size/page2

    Question 3: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...-dismemberment

Question 4: No point in linking a thread, considering it is default to have "NO LOADING SCREENS" in UDK Engine.

Question 5: Make your decision on if UDK supports it, based on the above links.

That answers my questions, thank you very much. It's amazing how difficult it is for people to actually give answers rather than open their mouths about something I did not ask.

    Farewell.

I vote for your banishment. I'm sick of the forums being cluttered by the same threads over and over again. Especially since most of the people that post them are lazy and have an attitude like the rest of the people on the forum owe them something.
The answers to 1, 3, and 4 are an obvious, "Yes, if you are willing to put in the work."
The answer to 2 is "Open the editor, thats what size the world is."
The answer to 5 is, "Use google."

    Farewell.
He did help you by saying the answers are in the forums already. You need to put the effort in to find stuff before you post. Getting mad because he didn't do what you should have done in the first place is absurd. I highly doubt anyone knew exactly where the threads are so what did Aexi0n probably have to do to find them? USE THE SEARCH BAR.

Everyone here is fine and dandy with helping others out or we wouldn't be here. But getting mad when someone tells you to search because it's been posted multiple times is uncalled for.

Felt the same way, about him being highly rude to dec0y. Though it's much better to help a new person, than to wait, and have multiple threads created. Your welcome for the answers, but as others have stated next time, please just use the search bar.. [:

Thanks for helping Aexi0n. I was hoping he would actually use the search bar instead of others posting what they are looking for. I find it is so easy to find the answers(or steps to it at best) by searching the forums or even just using google with udk forums at the end. I think as a society with all this information people are so lazy. Could I have searched and posted his answers for him, of course. But where is the journey? The discovery? What if you stumble upon something you think is related but turns out to give you a fresh idea and a stronger direction. I am just saying, the amount of time that person posted that thread I could have already been well on my way to finding the answers MYSELF.

*not to say asking real questions is a bad thing*
