    Default Unreal Anniversary (Remake)

Recently, Microsoft released an anniversary of Halo because it was their first and best game they had ever marketed before. Rather, Epic Games I see is losing its innovation to less profitable gaming platforms. Re-living the tale of the original and pro dominate Unreal would be something most people would gasp over. In the late 90's Unreal was the break through of the PC Gaming market, and it would be something thrilling to see another breakthrough after a 15 year milestone in the making of the Unreal Engine. There are many people in your Unreal Fan Crowds dying of starvation and want something new and fresh that Epic Games has not done before, while a lot of people have seen Gears of War to establish excellent content on the consoles it is like teasing your original fan base from the Computer. There are a lot of die hard fans of your original games and you should not forget them, we are crashing on 10 year old games because the innovation left the Computer dry.

I want a personal and small review with Employees from Epic Games on the forums to discuss their opinions of the Classic "Unreal" game. Rather than the death-match expansions Unreal Tournament and Unreal Championship. The original Unreal story line did not represent it self well enough to people and some people didn't really understand what the original objective of Unreal was. However, with the proper amount of enhancements and story production available to Unreal Engine 4.0 you guys could have yourselves a VERY profitable redesign. A lot of the Epic Community has missed the innovation of Epic Games... Gears of War was the last series most people really thought was profitable. Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Tournament 3 washed the Tournament franchise down pretty badly. Going back to your roots, and designing the original Unreal and hammering the same audience before when Unreal Gold came out would be your best bet with todays standards. The first time Unreal came out it was a Quake and Doom killer, with the exception both games are great.

Firstly, Epic Games has reached a milestone and this is 14 years since day one. And because it is so long-forgotten, most people will be shocked to hear about it. Unreal being Epic 'Mega' Games milestone at one time, coming back to being its 15th year Milestone. Showing that Epic Games lives up to its name, and what made Unreal Engine so popular in the first place. You would be channeling part of your Gears of War community and your Unreal Tournament community together to try this AWESOME concept of a game. Knowing that your community can play your original and first franchise title again would bring Shock and Awe to the community. Firstly the original Unreal can deliver both Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Onslaught, Domination, and the original Coop from classic Unreal that a lot of people wish was still alive. And personally, maybe create a sandbox mode for modders that want to program and design while playing online on servers. The community still has ages of potential for growth, don't let it end yet... support the Original Unreal so we can have something spectacular for the upcoming release of Unreal Engine 4.

    My questions are...

    1. If you decided to make an Unreal Anniversary how would you exploit it in matters of story line. Would you make a massive world, like Elder Scrolls and make it a Survival Shooter. Sort of like Fallout but much more on the side of Aliens and Monsters.
    2. Do you think remaking Unreal and announcing it to Gears of War players and Unreal Tournament players would unite the two communities in some way?
    3. Do you think it would spark a new age of gaming for people who play Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, and the quick action games for the PC.
    4. Has Epic Games taken notice in Unreal's age, and that it should 'not' be forgotten in the history books. ( I never see any history on it, from the Epic Games website)
    5. If Unreal was remade, would it be PC Exclusive so people would market with the Computer more? (It would be a great chance to make money with Intel, AMD, Nvidia and more)
    6. How long would it take you to remake Unreal Anniversary, while using key features of UE4?
    7. What is your current status on your company and are you turning more to the side of becoming a standalone Game Engine industry for redistribution?

I had originally thought to myself of a name like Unreal Universe. A large world like Fallout meets Elder Scrolls and Elder Scrolls meets Stalker. But being a Survival First Person shooter with the same direction of Classic Unreal. The beginning of the Co-Op game you create a clan on the game, and people join the clan so you can have a team of survivors to start off and play with every time you play Co-Op or you could search for surviving NPC's that are stranded on the planet as well. That way you can get to know your cooperative friends and grow a team of survivors. You can start the game and you start off like you do in Classic Unreal but on a Star Ship, and the ship crashes while you're playing. And the next thing is to get off and complete quests from the Nali's and seek help from other players. Possibly making friends with Nali's can give you food and shelter from Skaarj and other hunters out there. Or you can build fortification or craft like in Minecraft, the choice is yours. You can salvage vehicles used by the Skaarj and the ISV-Kran and Vortex Rikers... and you can travel the world doing tasks by free will. You can have a Master Quest (*Getting off of the Planet*), or restoring balance of the planet Na Pali. If you want to play Deathmatch, a lot of competitive based gaming you can create matches that the Unreal Tournament players will join. Boom, you've got a super genius video game that will market the heck out of the Computer.

Im afraid its unlikely they answer all your questions. For a start your in the wrong section! You should be posting this in the UDK or UT3 sections. This area is for EPIC Gamer contributions to the community.

Good luck either way, interesting concepts.

It seems to me that Epic has long-since washed its hands of Unreal/Unreal Tournament and moved on to producing console games. I wouldn't count on seeing another Unreal or UT game unless they sell the rights to another company or license it to another company.

They have absorbed another studio recently which is said to be working on a sequel in one of Epic's already established franchises - and it isn't Gears afaik. They just won't fess up which one it IS.

how can you ignore the fact the engine is called the "unreal" engine, they sure haven't forgotten unreal.

I just got done playing UT99 online had a blast again.

Your response about what Unreal was matches what they -meant- Unreal to be... a "Mystery". It has a storyline, but you the player -discovered- it as you went. I think EPIC has still kept the "Unreal" storyline mysterious and if they do do the U3 continued as such, you won't get to know when and if or where the game comes out, till maybe the last minute.
I sure would prefer EPIC make the game inhouse and not hand it off outside like Legend. Let as much of the original Unreal guys who are there do it.
Do note Digital Extremes did also a lot of the work on the game and Jim Schmalz coined the game.
I'm not sure how U3 will end up, will it become an extension of the UT3 storyline? Has time passed beyond prisoner 849?
Will we find 849 flipping burgers at McNali?
EPIC has hinted doing an exclusive PC game and Unreal again, so...oooo..ooo waiting....
Home page on hold, stay tuned

Nothing has captured such an amazing adventure and such beautiful landscape like Unreal does, I always loved the Artistic style in U1 opposed to UT or any of its sequels, it seemed more unique and less 'overdone'. Not sure how to explain it. An Unreal remake with wider enviroments, better graphics, more intelligent AI monsters, survival elements, >remade music< (Like what Alexander recently did with his Flight Castle Remix) is what I DREAM for.

Also, I dont care that Unreal is PC exclusive so long as it is developed for PC first, and then ported a year later. It makes Epic games more money and gets more people into the game (Wider Audience)
I want Unreal to Succeed, if Epic believes that they will make more cash on the consoles, at the very least they could wait and port it later. Epic Games is doing pretty good financially, why not just spend more money than you need too to make a great game? Right now it sounds like they can just swim in their cash if they want too :\
