    Default Problems with UDK

Hello, I have several problems since installing the UDK on my current Windows 7. UDK is version 9953. It crashes at random and the transform tools are mostly not working (they sometimes work, also at random). Mostly, when I try to select any of the transform tools the gizmo shows up on the actor for a second and then disappears. I'm only able to move my camera around. This happens with any file, I've tried it with the default "simple level" as well. I have tried both dx9 and dx11 modes - problems were the same. I am not new to UDK, I've used it before, but it was a year ago so maybe some things have changed. I have nVidia card with the latest drivers (please, ask for more info if I can help in any way).

It doesn't crash on launch but during the work. I haven't realised if there is any particular set of actions that I am doing when it crashes. If that happens again - do you still want me to post some log (and where could I find one in that case?).

Regarding the issue about the unavailable tools, I hope that this screenshot can help to better understand the problem. So, generally - I can't select the transform tools from the toolbar. The right-click on the toolbar icons works - I am able to enter the values and the action gets performed. Please, help here if you can since I'm unable to use the UDK without these basic tools.

You can post a launch log whenever there is a crash, it's called launch log but it also outputs the crashes that happen after UDK has been launched and while you were working with it, you can find it in your UDK Directory, then UDKGame, then Logs, then launch.log copy the whole content of it and paste it here, copy it only after a crash it gets updated each time you launch UDK,
now for this error i have never noticed this before, which version of UDK are you using ? and also what are your pc specs ?

Are you missing the actual widget to click and manipulate the objects?
You can check the following option that will actually toggle that tools visibility on and off.

YES!!!! Thanks, I've found the missing option on another place but you have pushed me in the right direction.

Here is what happens. The show Mode Widgets was turned on but there is yet another option - "Show Transform Widget" in the View menu which is turned off by default. In the previous version that I have used the widgets were working by default and I am not sure if there was an option to turn them off anyway.

Now, here is my small contribution to the UI improvement, if anyone cares:
    - Two different options are pretty confusing - instead there should be only one option (well, if there is no difference in them, but in that case the difference should be more obvious)
    - The option should be turned on upon the installation by default
    - The icons on the toolbar should look disabled, suggesting that the Transform Widget is not currently enabled (this will suggest that there might be an option to enable them)

Thanks! I'll use that if the UDK crashes again. Luckily, it seems that it does not crash for me anymore.
