Default [WIP] Sledge Savage - He´s got a job to stick it to the mob!(Grindhouse style FPS)

Hi folks! I want to present a singleplayer/coop first person shooter to you, that me and a fellow programmer have been working on for a while now. Since we´ve got quite some material together by now, i thought now would be a good time to post some kind of WIP-threat.

And now something about the game itself....

    Sledge Savage

Sledge Savage is a fast paced first person shooter based on the Epic Games UDK-Engine, that is set
in an offbeat and over the top b-movie universe.
With a tight script that allows unique combat situations and action packed gameplay,
Sledge Savage takes the genre into arcade-style territory.

You play as Sledge, your favorite action hero´s action hero.
Returning from the carribean to the city of Nytropolis for the world pimping convention of 1977,
he finds his former hometown in a state of emergency.

Tony Maccaroni, boss of an international syndicate and his henchmen have taken over his
old neighborhood and turned it into a cesspool of crime and corruption.

Armed with an arsenal of guns and his deadly voodoo skills, it´s up to Sledge to settle the score.

Here are some In-Game Screencaps to give you an idea about the vibe the game is aiming for and what the game is about...

We´re trying to keep the gameplay fresh and interesting, so there will be a mix of casual and wacky weapons. Pimpcanes, shotguns and of course voodoo magic will play an important role.
    Here´s a selection of what´s to come....

If you are interested in more, be sure to visit the website at sledge-savage.com

I will keep this threat updated and post more character models, weapons etc. as time progresses....some little videos too.

Oh yeah, i´m always keen on what you guys think about the project, so keep the comments coming

Interesting. The style of this UDK game reminds me of Quentin Tarantino's movies, exploitation flicks and/or B-movies of the 70s and 80s. This could more intense gameplay enough and refrain from using inappropriate content at the 2nd photo.

Interesting idea, but personally I found it hard to look at shots. Whole screenshots blend together in a cacophony of colors and it was hard to read game elements from background. Again, this is my own experience and it might look cool/readable for other people.
I think I like the rest of it, especially exotic weapons
As for "inappropriate content" - which was just a pair of drawn tits, anyway - IMO within game setting, said content fits well and actually adds to the atmosphere conveyed through game environments and story.

    Thanks for the opinions guys!

    @Tux Android

Absolutely, we´re definitely going for the low budget 70s/early 80s exploitation movie feel, and politically incorrectness is rule number one in that genre

    @merc-ai

I think i know what you mean when you´re saying the screenshots are hard to read and i totally agree. I feel the colors/color scheme are way too garish at this point and have to be balanced out.
I´m still in the phase of experimenting and finding a look thats kinda colorful and beat up/gritty but at the same time not harmful to the eye...if that makes any sense
But i´ll definitely consider your arguement.

Had to login to say that this is completely awesome. I agree that the colors need to be balanced or gameplay could be a real problem, but as for the whole concept and all, it looks awesome. Good luck.
    I'll learn as I go.
How's that working out for you?
    Not so hot.

A shirtless female is inappropriate but a guy ripping out someones heart is fine? Man, you have a warped view of the world.

For op, looks great and I don't mind the contrasting elements, gives it a unique look that tie in well with the theme. Good Job

Did you make your arms part of the weapon mesh or did you attach them with sockets?

@Guitarrasdeamor & jmr303: Cheers guys! I really appreciate your feedback, and yes, i do need a lot of luck and nerves for this project

@Phen0mM0dz: I animate the hands and weapons in an external package and then i import them together as one skeletal mesh.

I made a little video breakdown of the first type of enemies:
