Hi, New Here. I was just wondering what's the best way to distribute my skill points. My level is low, around level 16, ive had IB2 since it came out, but I'm just now starting to really play it since I updated.

Hi Savage, welcome aboard this fantastic party boat forum.
Depending on which your favourite weapon type is (light, heavy, dual) you will need different stats. Heavy, for example, you will need some additional points in shield, where as with dual, a shield is not used, so no shield points need to be added.
I would focus mainly on health and attack, don't go too crazy on your health though, just enough for you to survive and get used to the gameplay.
At the top of the page there is a 'Master thread list' that has all the best threads with tons of information for new players. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask, but it might be worth checking out those great threads for some solid answers. I hope you're stay is enjoyable.

Hello SavageTarantino, welcome to the forums!
Distributing skillpoints is largely dependent on your preferred playstyle, as in you allocate health and shield points if you tend to be defensive, or boost magic and attack if you like to go for the kill... I myself used to allocate them more-or-less evenly in my OG playthrough, and I reached the level of 98 (which I think is the cap) with no real problem.
However, I'm sure that many pro players here will argue that focusing more on health and attack while employing mainly dual weapons is the way to go, especially on NewGame+. =P

Rofl, sorry Harry-Son didn't think of that! =P we'll just have to hope my silly words slip past without a notice...
...I'll just go sharpen my dual blades in the meantime.

i use mostly light until i get bored, then i use heavy or dual
@Gwa, wht is your profile pic, i cant seem to understand what it is
Thanks for all the help everyone. So is Dual Weapon really that superior? Or is any weapon really viable to get to 98?

Savage, I'd recommend trying them all, to be honest. I may prefer dual but I never forget about the other two styles, they really help diversify the process. In order to get to 98 you'll need to go through every weapon anyway =P

I keep everything balanced- I have capped gems with my Infinity Blade, Reaper, and Kurtz and I can honestly recommend (at later RBs) putting it all into health no matter WHAT. I personally have an extra shield gem, but that's me (I don't think a +80 shield from the Vile Shield is going to be that useful in later RBs...)
Anyways, the reason why you need all health in OG is because you can get a ridiculous amount of attack (like 1400+ at least) bonus from attack gems, WITH a magic +200.

New recommendations?
You don't need that much HP in any mode(i.e NG+ or OG) in fact some people didn't invest on health points rather pump all into attack(For Dual users) but if you are playing CM(survive wretch bite for a certain time limit) I would suggest you to get at least 10k health. That would be enough for you to survive.
It's cool to pump in more attack points. That way you will end the fight earlier. Moreover, it's a lot more time efficient when you pump in more attack as titan's hp will gradually increase by your rebirth count.
If you are talking about playing styles, say Heavy, Light and Dual. You should invest some points on shield but don't put too much. In OG, 100+ points on shield should be sufficient. If you are playing with Duals, then you don't need bother about pumping in shield; more on attack points. Mind you that you can use gem to replenish your shield points.
PS: I didn't play NG before so I can't help much on this but the skill allocation for shield in NG is totally different from NG.
Hope it helps.

When I first started playing I followed a system I made up that seemed pretty well balanced for my beginning skill level, Savage maybe it'll help you.
Basically, every time you level up you get two skill points; I would put one in health and one in attack
Every time you master a weapon put its skill point into attack
Put skill points from mastered shields towards shield
Skill points from mastered rings go towards magic
Helmets get put into health
And armor goes into whatever you feel could use a little boost.
That was my system for a long time, until I really started playing and got better at the game. Then I just reallocated my stats, right now I have 200 into health (for a total of 10,050 health) and everything else into attack (250ish). I'm capped at level 124 in my old OG (I started a new one to follow the OG code), but I think I heard of someone who made it to level 125 with some of the omega set. And gems are incredibly useful in OG, in the long run they're the way to go
