I am pretty sure you'll be able to use the universities key to get your game onto the iDevice but you wont be able to sell it on the Apple store.

But, as I am not 100% sure on this, I would ask the teacher in charge of the game design program.

oh thanx alot Vawx it would be very helpful if you can confirm it. i just want to test the game. no selling or something of the sort. actually where im studying they never offered any course regarding game development or anything so im learning everything on my own and making a game as a final year project so i was trying if that free license could be used to just test the game.

I'm not going to confirm it, as I do not go to a university, or have access to the iOS developer program through one.

When you get your student developer license, try to put a game onto your iDevice. If it works, cool. If not, contact Apple. If they say sorry, they can't help you, you'll have to spend $99.

As a student you can not apply for student developer program directly. Your university or the profesor in charge for some kind of course has to do this...

yes order66 that is exactly what i thought would require... but my university doesn't offer any course regarding ios Development or iPhone development so i guess it would be the individual developer license that would work.

If your University has a Computer Science department or Software Engineering Department contact the head of department. Usually they are willing to work with students who have ambition and it might only require a letter from them. It looks good for the school that undergrads have the confidence to publish whole games, they like that.

    Then just spend the 99$
So you will at least be able to make some money, if you make a good game.

Game Dev is being beaten with the spikey stick of Computer science theory and concepts then turning it in to applications and knowing how it really works.
