I got to say, Dom's death was the best death in the gears series. kinda hate how jace took over for dom in the following chapters. Dom was awesome in his own ways.

Thanks to CARMINE COG for the Adam Fenix code
Him dieing didnt have anything to do with his AI character. I thought the story was amazing and that from playing through the Gears series you start to feel a connection between you an the Characters which is what a game is suppose to do. You should feel emotion during that scene.

With carmine Living comes undeveloped characerizationhaha. And Dom dieing, ya know it was only natural. We needed a sad death for it to be a Gears of War Game

I'm cool with it, at least Dom died a heros death.
It's a shame, too. I thought Dom had found some peace in his tomato plants.
Couldn't care less about the Carmines dying or living. Hell, I didn't even know who Anthony was. That's how little character he had. And Benjamin just pissed me off for being so completely useless during the campaign. Clayton is alright, he seemed badass and compared to his brothers it felt like he was actually part of the team. Being able to get into the conversations between the other characters instead of lurking like some cry baby who was too scared to open his mouth.
As for Dom, I loved him from the moment he smashed in that car window in Gears 1. I've always been the second player and have been Dom ever since the first game, seeing him die was just painful. Especially if you see who we get to be in return. His story was probably better told than Marcus' story. You just wanted him to find his wife and be happy.
Again, never felt like that when I witness a Carmine die or move around during the cutscenes. Boring and brainless characters.

I always played as Dom during co-op through the first 2 Gears games, so obviously I grew accustomed to him. So when he sacrificed himself, it hit. Even the missus got teary, and she only joined the series with Gears 3.
Personally, I would've preferred him to have survived (I'm indifferent for Clayton) but I think we can all agree, the campaign wouldn't have had the same emotional impact if he had.
...without his death, I also don't think that the sense of reality that GoW maintains would have been the same. If you think about it, these guys are constantly in dire straits with their backs to the wall and yet the main characters never go down? You need one of them to die, otherwise you have the superhero problem where they miraculously survive all these supposed "deadly" situations. It also echoes a lot of the heroism you see in real armed forces, esp. those tales from WWII where soldiers would jump on grenades to save their buddies.
All the signs seemed to point to Dom's death but I thought for sure that it would happen at the end of the game. When he died at the end of Act 3 I swear my jaw dropped for the next half hour. I didnt realise how much his character meant to me and the story until he was gone. I like the Carmine brothers but would have bet money that Epic was going to continue the tradition of killing them off...Wrong again. Im glad that a game can keep me emotionally invested in such things. So much more than just a point and shoot experience.

Or is there another window he smashed in G1?
So sad about Dom.

EXACTLY! carmine died too fast in GOW1,the devs could have named him a random gear sent in as backup or something,im glad carmine lived long in gow2, i was happy about that. And i had an orgasm when He lived in GOW3,and when the tempest hit the raven he was in,i was like,"oh,god" i thought he was going to die, right at the end,but iwas happy that he lived, and to make up for the little game time he had, they had him in a cool cut-scene,but i was angry he wasnt in more.

Personally, I wanted Clayton to die, but going out in a suitably beast way. It may only be a trilogy but I feel it's kind of a tradition to have a Carmine dying in each game. However, that doesn't mean I didn't like Clayton as a character. He seems a cool kind of guy, like what the other brothers COULD have been if they actually, well, put in an effort without taking excessive risks (I'm looking at you, Benjamin). I guess he's the kind of guy he is because of the environment everyone's in - backs against a wall with everything against you - where it doesn't pay to be the green-as-grass rookie at all. His quips and one-liners deserve a chuckle, and he just seemed like a general bro. One minor problem I do have is his "possible death" scene in the Raven - I have a dreadful feeling that if he were to die, that would be it - it would be a member of Delta, maybe another COG picking up his helmet instead of him, and that would be it - no amazingly epic death, just an crash and a cut to a different scene. I'd like it if Epic released the death scene, maybe as a bit of closure or proof that they weren't taking the pansy way out.
In regards to Dom, I think pretty much one of the only guys in the game who was really, TRULY personified. Gears 3 was basically the "reflect on the past" game of the trilogy - Marcus being all emotional about his father (earning the nickname "Emotional Marcus" from my friend after, I dunno, Act 1), Cole reminiscing his Thrashball days, Anya in the idle Start cutscene, all this good stuff. However, Dom's been coping with this kind of thing basically forever. Losing his brother and vowing to protect Marcus. Losing his family on E-day. Forced to end his own wife's suffering. All that he's lived for was destroyed (if Marcus were to die at any stage in this, I think Dom would lose it completely), and his death in G3 was inevitable. I would have liked him to see the fruits of his work, killing Myrrah, but his death just adds that extra, I dunno, satisfaction to the ending, and Marcus using his knife was a very nice touch.
To recap, Carmine's a nice guy but personally I think he should have copped it, and Dom's death was pretty clear but adds super-saturated emotion to the events afterwards.
But those feels ;_;

Dom is my favorite character in the series and like many have said he went through a lot. The books also helped expand his character and you saw that he was slowly falling apart. When he died, I admit i was like "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" and after thet Gears 3 was not the same. I honestly wanted to stop playing, but continued to get closure with the story. Marcus and Jace just did not work for me. DOM FTW!!!
Two piecing is a joke, but being able to melee instantly after you shoot is ridiculous.
im glad about them both.I wanted Clay to live. i didn't necessarily want Dom to die,but it would take a of of excitement from the game, with the dramatic death and Mad World playing in the background.I think it would only be correct if Dom died.I flippin loved that Clay lived!!!i Have always been a Carmine fan,so was happy about that.I hated that Anthony died so fast,he could have just been a random gear that was sent for backup or something.I liked Benjamin lived for a while.I loved that Clayton lived, but he hardly any screen time!!!!!Realy! Im rambling again, but thats how much i love'm!

As a Carmine fan, I definitely wanted him to live for a change, if only to poke fun at the people expecting his character to get offed.
I seriously think I was the only one of my friends who wasn't surprised that Dom died. To be honest, I saw it coming pretty easily :/
