BTTE: Way too slow/campy

played two games in a row stalemated where no one killed/died at all.
One team grabs Boomshots, other team doesn't move. is it supposed to be like this? Anyone else have games this bad?

I prefer Wingman. I don't like it because of the slow-paced action and what-not. Personally, I can't go very long without killing/getting killed, so BTTE is kinda...well, bad for me.

I guess only so much can happen in a doubles match, but I think it can be improved if it was KOTH, ...with limited (definitely not respawn after pickup) power weapons maybe?... my best suggestions for something that encourage movement throughout the playing area

It's extremely hard to pressure the other team in BTTE and you get long, drawn out battles where people just sit on the lead. Not that I blame them, it's not a very good match type.

BTTE or as I call it the camper game. Me and my brother literally had a match go till time was out with no kills because we tried to beat them at their own game. After that went back to just charging into the obvious place where they were trying to snipe from. I don't see any fun in waiting things out till your enemy can't take it any more and comes looking for you.

But then again, we're something like 200-3 in BTTE matches. The only people who beat us are the really, REALLY good Lancer crossing teams that manage to win that first push.


It's 2v2 TDM, so it's just "spawn trap, attempt to break said trap". Comes down more to who can lock down and break a trap better. I personally love it.

My fave gametype right now, me and my partner rarely lose. I just wish they would take out large maps, and replace the boomshot with digger on all maps, it works well for forcing the enemy to move.

Ever played this gametype on aftermath??? torture.

You will lose brothers if you don't know how to make an opening push, take map control, set up a spawn trap, make pushes mid round when up a man, control power weapons ( boomshot should not be in brothers btw).

I distinctly remember on Aftermath we grabbed Boomshot they grabbed grenades and after moving back to our respective sniper ledges literally nobody moved the whole match.

Agreed, power weapons and locking down spawns are pretty crucial, but I always really enjoyed it...

Whenever I play BTTE(90% of the time whenever i play VS).

I never seem to get games like that. The Boomshot ruins BTTE in my opinion.

The only map that ever really happens for me is Overpass. Horrible BTTE map!

This. Plus if there is a boomshot, why not go to it? IF they do too how can it end with nobody dying? Seems logical. I haven't seen this happen yet and it's all I play when it's me and a friend playing. Love BTTE. Best game type on Gears. Even if the other team has boom I will go and try to kill them. Why camp? It's a video game. Your life don't depend on it.

I don't have FoN so I'm not familiar with Aftermath, but if you take wide corners and use smokes, grenades can often be spotted. If you take your teammate with you, you should be able to avoid getting sniped or crossed, with a bit of luck.

Just saying, Boom will make people crap themselves, so if you're ever going to push it may as well be with the Boomshot.

Aftermath is a HUGE map.

Put the Boom on your back, and push around the map. Get close enough, pull the Boom back out and get a kill or two.

I just was posting the opinion from my experience, in addition to a thought to take power weapons like the Boomshot out of this playlist, and it seems a fair amount of people agreed with me. Boomshot camping or not, perhaps if they made a 2v2 King of The Hill type of deal, or Execution, I would play it.

Well it's not always locking down spawns, that just tends to happen when one team is better than the other.

And I don't really see the need to remove the Boomshot, you may just have to prioritise it yourself and make sure you grab it. If you're worrying about losing it when you die, put it on your back while moving like Gnashes said (I forgot you could do this, my bad)

They could make it less campy if it was first to six wins in Execution/Warzone style with no Boomshots. Or they can make a 3v3v3 playlist which would be pretty interesting, and you definitely couldn't camp unless you're really good lol.

That will lead to more camp, more spawn traps and matches that will take 30 minutes. I suggest a round with 5 minutes and only 5 respawns. No power weapons besides Longshot, Digger/Tbow and Retro Lancer/Sawed Off, close some areas of the maps (C'mon, if they can do it when is normal MP except Guardian, CTL and Horde in Raven Down, they can close some areas in other maps).

BTTE never appealed to me. Yeah Wingman's ok but 2v2 on a big map doesn't seem to work so good.

Maybe if there were something in-game to speed it up, like the guy above said 5 minute rounds or something?

We play BTTE all the time, it and Warzone. i know what a lot of you are talking about, there are a lot of drawn out games but personally i think its great, especially when you mix it up by rushing and picking off. also find it more tactical at times than striaght up tdm.

I don't see why people prefer BTTE to Wingman you still running with your friend but here is the catch you have to keep moving in Wingman if you camp in wingman you lose but in BTTE it is rewarded which is the reason that mode completely sucks the air out of the game

I haven't been on GoW3 in awhile let alone play some BTTE, but when I used to play the game and playlist on a daily basis my teammate and I would never run into matches where we'd have to stalemate. If the enemy team doesn't want to play Gears like Gears than we bring the fight to them and make them have to fight. I know people will probably flame me for saying this, but I think those kind of things (not playing and just chillin) came over from CoD because I've seen it in that game ALOT more than the old days of CoD4.

I don't mind WM, but BTTE is the bomb. It's just so fun. You and your partner vs another group of 2. Not 2 vs 2vs 2 vs 2..... that just dilutes the fun. Played about 10-15 rounds last night of it and din't see any camping. Not one game. Did get spawn trapped once, but it's what you make it. You have spawn protection. You need to figure a way to get out. Control the power weapons. You can come back even if they have control. We were down 1-9 last night and then got on a run. I think I killed about 6 or 7 and we got it back to **/1. I had the boom and hit a guys feet. He had magical powers though and walked away and then I may have shot again and then got my head popped. My own fauilt. I knew the sniper was there. I was actually ducking into cover too. Must have been lag and he actually fired before I went down, but on my screen I was into cover. Anyways, I just hate hearing that people camp and then you can't win. Blah blah blah. You can win, unless you just aren't that good. Then it could be tough, but it would anyways. Just have to regain control and play smart. You can make a guy miss with the boom and if he only gets 1 kill with it, then that's a win! Also there are always inks and incendiaries and what not that you can pick up. Many ways to win. Hit the guy with boom and it's over for him.

Anyways, with the respawns and the personal nature of the game it's a winner. I wouldn't play half as much Gears without that game type. If I have only 1 friend on it's all we play, unless the lag is really bad. I'd hate this going to an event.

Everyone keeps saying this, which is true... but... obviously, if it was any other map besides Aftermath, I wouldn't have hesitated. Which is cause of another issue that not all maps work for 2v2. I can't imagine Sandbar....

I like it but when you have 2 teams who know what they're doing yes it is really slow and gets boring.

it can be improved if everyone wasnt so scared for their k.d. and would just rush with gnasher like the game used to and should still be played. its not just BTTE, its everything with primary weapons. Thats why epic should make more gnasher based game modes to keep the old gear heads happy. I personally really enjoyed the gnasher guardian, even though they put snub pistol on it which was stupid. Even so, it was fun and gave me that old gears feeling again, especially sense it was guardian.
