Ok, xp potions. Are they worth it? let's find out with an example.

An XP potion costs 900,000.This is equal to 300,000 XP.

Your victory over a Titan or Sentinel would have to net you 150,000 XP for you to break even.

In a recent game I came up against the final Thane and thought to myself. '150,000 XP? Naaah, no way would I get that much'. Turns out I gained 152,000. Typical.

But say I had an XP gem equipped, say for example 100%. I could have turned a profit of 462,000 gold.

So yes, xp potions can be worth it.To turn a real profit, buy the xp potions about 50 RB's before you use them.

Seems to me you get more xp from MX-Goliath than Thane 2 (needs to verify that). Not sure if XP potion is valid for the whole fight or just a segment (top of tower or in VoT) in the Thane fight.

I was just using Thane as an example.

The idea to work out if the potions were good value for money, only occured to me when I was just about to fight him. And I used the numbers from that fight for illustration.

My finishing bonus after fighting Thane in the VoT was double what I scored on him in that fight, so I'm assuming that both fights count toward the final XP haul. So use the potion before the last fight!

I'm sure you're right about the amount of XP awarded after the MX-G fight being the highest available, and when I next settle into a NG I'm gonna take full advantage.

There is a logged bug that apparently using an XP potion before a battle with a sentinel/deathless that it does not not give any XP. So until the bug is smashed, may not want to attempt that.

It definitely gave me double xp when I used it against Goliath or Stone, But against Thane the effect seemed small. It's just my recollection from when I bought those potions using the CM glitch. Since that's gone I have not used any XP potion.

I only do 4RBs per NG. It costs over 17M each in NG^348, but still, if combined with a couple of XP+ gems, it does make up for the high cost and more. I may do that from time to time.

Ok, tried it against the MX G.

Potion cost 970,000, I have XP+26% equipped.

I gained an approximate 1,130,000 XP which is worth 3,390,000 gold. A 350% profit.

Not bad!

24% xp is pretty lame. If you had 2 125% xp (one in armour, one in ring) then the profit (xp wise) would be immense!

I was racing through a 4 RB NG, and it was the largest XP+ available. It still shows how an XP Potion (which I (among many here) thought was worthless) can be a massive boost when used in conjunction with XP+ gems.

If I had 250% XP+ I would have gained 2,900,000 XP (roughly 8,700,000 gold!)

Insane eh!

I understand Groove and it's madness! These are only useful on deathless where the xp gain is high. Or until later RB's where the xp gain is equal or greater than the cost in gold for the xp potion.

Would be cool to find out which RB it crossed over from being a waste of cash to a bonus for the additional xp.

Example
Potion ＝ 1,000,000 gold, this is equal to 333,333 XP
As the potion doubles XP. 333,333/2＝166,667.

So, if a Titan XP reward is greater than 166,667 you will break even.

If you had 250% XP Gems, then 166,667/3.5=47,620.

This means that if you beat a Titan that rewards you 47,620 XP and you have 250% XP Gems, you will again break even.

(XP awarded x 3.5) x 2 x 3 ＝ (if the result is less than, or equal to the cost of the potion don't buy it.

If you don't use double xp potion, you still get 166667 XP, and using it only net you 166667 additional XP.

Edit: So here is an actual example with my current NG (NG^348) in a normal titan fight.

The the net gain is 1X the original XP amount (about 1.37M). The cost of Double XP potion is about 17.3M, so to break even, the titan XP has to be higher than 17.3/3 = 5.77M.

Also to my surprise, with Double XP potion, only Boss XP is doubled, not finishing bonus or bonus. Compare that to XP+ Gem, where the total XP is multiplied.

Still, if you have a couple of XP+ gems (with 200%+ gain), you can still make out ahead if you purchase a double XP potion and use it in a Boss fight.

You don't. I just used that as a way of explaining the value of XP.

Groove, do you mean how long you get for each attack window? If so it varies on quite a few things. Whether you parry the last attack, whether you dodge all attacks, whether the enemy hits you in 1 particular attack scene.

The most hits you will get in a single break window, if you dodge all attacks and do not get hit is 7. If you are hit then it is 4 attacks. If you parry the last attack it is 6. If you stab an enemy before a break window then you only get 3 hits. This only applies to Light and Dual. Heavy is a different ball game and the maximum slashes seems to be 3 + 1 combo slash at the end where you follow the arrow. Hope this helps.

Yes, I agree with all you've said above, but what really interests me is how ''great'' and ''perfect'' parries extend these windows. Also how many attacks the Titan makes before breaking affects the length of the attack window.
