i hear the new xbox update disabled all datel modded controllers.

if most people use that controller for gow3 that be great because i cant stand when people turbo the hammerburst.
and no modded controllers makes gears alot more fun

No course not. The Datel controllers would blatantly break Microsoft rules. So far as to advertise them as 100% unofficial and be taken to court over some of them. And not because they had turbo fire options but because they had functionalities that are only allowed for 1st party products for the 360. Such as the kind of Wireless they used and the mic port.

This really sucks though cause those were good controllers turbo fire aside since it is rather unfair in competetive gameplay. But the ability to re map buttons however you wanted, rumble calibration, and all the other cool features plus their ease of use by being so similiar to standard controllers made them awesome.


EDIT: Would like to point out though that there are still plenty of modded controllers out there from different providers. Datel was just the favorite of Seriously 3.0 boosters for spotting and such.

I heard it was because Datel was using a wireless technology not licensed by MSFT, which is a big no no considering the lawsuit they are currently in with Motorola dealing with patents and such.

Finally something is being done . I can't wait till every modded controller becomes useless so people can stop accusing me of using a mod. Seriously, and if they do think I'm somehow modding then maybe they'll be jealous and ask what controller I'm using and I'll reply it's called the modded finger of skill.

If I'm not mistaken, Datel also offers (or used to offer) certain controllers packaged with modding software to override game restrictions. That, at least, was what the links (and other posts) in the thread indicated.

Do datel controllers not work AT ALL on the 360 now? Or is it just the turbo fire? I have one that I used for boosting but haven't touched it in a couple months. Can I not use it for boosting anymore? As an actual controller, I hate it. Thumbsticks suck and I don't like how it feels in my hands.

Damn.. I had a wireless one to. Huh... Oh well. I wanna try it now and see.

Edit: My controller can't connect anymore. As soon as it lights up and goes to player 1, it shuts off. Damn I guess they did disable them.

Got accused of a turbo controller today.
So meh, changes nothing for me.

Also just to let you know - the Datel controllers support firmware upgrades. Meaning within a months time they will be back on there.
I own a Wildfire Evo because of the button remapping and on the fly sensitivity changes. My 4 options are:
Background Image (Crimson Omen)
Sensitivity (set to very low)
Sensitivity (set to medium)
Button Remapping (set to make GoW1 controls match GoW3 Alternate controls - closest as possible)

My ingame sensitivity is near maxed out.
So in reality each sensitivity option has 3 levels. I tap the back (1) - low. Tap it again and it goes back to high.
Tap the back (2) it goes to medium and again tap again and back to high.
Works amazing.

Already contacted Datel about it and they indeed are already looking into it and will be updating the firmware.

If they really wanted to get rid of 95% of rapid controllers all they would have to do is move the active reload on the snub and hammerburst cause then you could tell who was using 1 cause they would jam their gun everytime so either the people who bought them would have to stop using it or wait for another 1 to be made and rebuy it again.

Hardly - most are programmable. Meaning they'd just have to connect to PC and update it.

Let's be clear on one thing:

Modded controllers aren't "cheating". "Cheating" is breaking the rules (i.e. in-game limitations/mechanics), and rapid-fire or programmable controllers generally don't do that (with some exceptions).

Modded controllers are cheap and unsportsmanlike, but so long as they're licensed by MS, there's no rules against them.
