    Default Curious about this...

Ok, so yesterday I was playing the campaign with some friends. The submarine part. Then the following question popped up, if
Berserkers are the only female locust how do Leviathans make babies? Or even those little tickers? (I can imagine drones and stuff but tickers...)

At some point Baird makes a comment about 'when a daddy corpser and mommy corpser love each other very much...'. And in Raam's shadow there are Serapede eggs. Does this mean there are more female locust?

I know it's just a video game and those details aren't important but they kind of are because they expanded the series with books and comics. They gave us information about the Berserkers... I'm just really curious about this.

On a different note, funny fact, I was watching Terminator TSCC and a couple of guys were playing gears of war 1

I can't answer that question, I'm just here to support the fact that you like TSCC. It's SO good.

Tickers, wretches, leviathans, brumaks, corpsers etc only fall under the Locust title because that is the faction they belong to in game terms. Otherwise native seran wildlife.

Beserkers are the female Drones. They are the only female "Locust" when the term "Locust" is used to describe the in game race of humaniods and not the faction itself.

ah well, that explains it I guess, if it's wildlife on Sera. Would explain why wild tickers kill downed drones in horde sometimes too. I just assumed they were locust because the 'other' locust like drones don't see them as a threat or anything, especially corpsers.

Wonder how you tame a serapede though and if locust can do it why didn't the humans ever try it? Lord knows they could've used a few brumaks.

Subterranean, which also explains why their skin is pale coloured.

To answer your question OP, Berzerkers are female Drones, I believe. They wouldn't mate with the other species, which are mutated animals. There's various different species within the Locust.

I can relate to most of them but a giant Brumak? How can people not know about them? Especially after all the fighting over imulsion with the UIR. With all the drilling they did they must've ran into them once. But like DizzyRules said, you know your stuff. I'm just trying to imagine people not noticing dinosaurs living under their feet. Lol

The Brumaks were bred by the Locust from smaller native apes. That and much of the drilling operations were done in the outer hollow. Much of the wildlife seems to live deeper in the Inner Hollow.

has this actually been confirmed? Smaller native apes? I don't recall reading this in the books or comics. Or did I miss something?

Yep, it's in the Gears 2 art book, they mention brumaks being ape breed creatures. Did actually have a video of one of the game designers explaining it, but can't find it anymore, might be on the gears 2 LE bonus disc, but don't quote me lol

Gears of War: Destroyed Beauty page 13 or 14

    Brumak

    Height: 12+ meters
    Weight: 10,000 Kilograms

Tactical: Gargantuan Monstrosities. DNA analysis indicates these were bred by the Locust Horde from smaller native apes. Extraordinary thick hide. Deadly at close range. Recommending blasting them with high-yeild explosives from a safe distance.

Special note: Drone-mounted armoured variations have been reported. Rumors of Brumaks carrying energy canon(s) cannot be confirmed.

Alright, so it's confirmed! Now I can go to bed in peace. Would be fun to raise a baby brumak though, especially as it started as an ape-like creature.

Oh and Gnashes, you gave that BBQ ticker a lot of thought didn't you? Can I steal that recipe? *goes ticker hunting* family picknick coming up

Haha, we do that with a pig every year. We hunt wild hogs with trained dogs, the night before the first day of season each year we cook a 75-90 pound pig and my family/friends all eat in a camp we have in the woods.

Great choice lol. Only you could actually make that sound appealing. Now I'm hungry for BBQ.

    Beserkers are the female Drones.
Is this also confirmed, I had thought they were just another genetic mutation and that the assumption they were female locust/drones was cog speculation.
Especially given the theory that locusts dont breed, yet the cog assume the beserkers are "chained down" however in gears one the book reference drones being bred. (double meaning I know but still)

It's confirmed. Don't ask me exactly where though.

To add on to OPs question, shouldn't Locusts be like moles and be BLinD? Lol

Wild hogs don't have a limit or season in most places due to them being a nuisance. If you find one you can shoot it and eat so long as you're somewhere shootin' is allowed and you're not tresspassing.

I wouldn't suggest doing it in the fall though. Everything the hogs eat is too wet or something and the meat tastes worse then summer time. I'm not a hunter or well versed in these things but just something I noticed from the wild pigs running around in the hills.
