    Question Looking for some help/tips

So recently I have decided that I would like to onyx my master at arms medal its currently at gold I have nearly finished all the rifles and gnasher is onyx twice.

I'm getting stuck on the SoS I'm just over 2k kills and my W/L and K/D or sky rocketing down.

So my question is whats some things I could try to get more kills with this weapon I'm stuck in my gnasher rushing habit and I just get dominated.

I dont want hate just some thoughts on gametypes to play what is the best rifle to pair with it style of play etc.

    - I dont like to boost on bots either

    Thank you.

Play quick match man, otherwise you're going to have do some beast wall bouncing. It's a stupid gun they made to help beginners get into the game and they expect you to get 5000 kills. The alternative is to not give a **** about the medals, they like when the crowd they're catering to is dumb and is concerned about super duper cool weapon skins and E-swag medals. Just play the game and have fun man.

You're in luck, I preferably use the sawed off. With the sawed off you'll want to play sneakily and avoid multiple people. I'm not a full-fledged expert so the best I can say about sneaking is to be evasive and run through areas of the map where there is no-one allowing you to come up on people from behind and take them out relatively easily because as soon as you're in range they're dead and try to look out for people going out on their own because they'll be alot easier to kill as you can't really saw-off 2 people with the gnasher since they'll space out. Oh and on KOTH be aware of enemies capturing the hill because if executed properly there's nothing like that feeling of gibbing 4 people with one sawed-off shot. Hope this helps.

I can only play quickmatch is all we have in aus/nz servers I also DO NOT UNDERSTAND how this is a beginner gun. I did not play strait from release so cant comment on its early state but how it is now you have to be really really good at this game to get lots of kills with it. Gnasher is easy mode

I think im just going to have to boost a few kills a day for like a month.

When playing with the SOS, you must be in constant motion. Ready to sneak up on the unsuspecting opponent. Just be on the move especially when you've already fired your rounds. A hit can be fatal but if you miss, you need to be running for some cover and practice the active for a quick reload.

A strategy I used was I down the enemy with my rifle then finish them off with the SOS. You could pick up a double or even a triple when your downed opponents' teamates try to revive them. Rush them and use the SOS. Another thing to remember is to shoot and not to execute because weapon executions don't count for the weapon kills.

Oh, and to just share the downside of doing this is... sometimes you'll get "fan mails."

    Hope this helps!

If you want to get it out of the way asap, then bot boosting is the fastest. Especially if you dedicate yourself to it properly.

Back when I was trying to Onyx all of my weapons I would "bot boost" 1,000 weapon kills and then spend the remainder of my time playing with my buddies.

1,000 kills/day was what I set my quota at, but 2,000 and even 3,000 kills per day is possible. It just takes time.

I'd even like to say you could probably score 1,000 every 2-3 hrs. It all differs from person to person I suppose.

I love music. I play the drums when I am not on XBL. Been playing for close to 3 years. I'm easy going, hit me up any time, any day, and I'll more than likely play GoW with you, if not I'll make it a point to invite you later on when I have time.

Yup, you already identified your main problem: trying to use it like a Gnasher. The Sawed-Off is its own gun and using it like another can get you killed...often. Here's some tips that should help you out:

    1. Never stop moving. This is rule #1 for a reason. If you get nothing else out of this post, please remember to never stop moving. As a beginner, your strategy is simple: get in, shoot, get out. As a Gnasher user, you should already know how to wallbounce and strafe and roadie run to get in range, so that shouldn't be a problem. The problem comes in when, as a convert, you miss (or more commonly, skim your enemy) and assume you must continue the fight so you melee in an attempt to down your opponent. This rarely works because the damage of the SO decreases dramatically outside of gib range. Even if you do hit your opponent, you most likely won't down him because you probably only did 33 points of damage. Of course, you don't have to worry about this if you get in, shoot, get out. Not to mention the SO actually pulls alot of player aggro (you'll get it if you play WoW)

    2. Hardaiming is useless. By hardaiming, I mean holding the left trigger. Don't try it. It's a waste of ammo.

    3. The reason why Sawed-Off cornershots work better than Gnasher cornershots is because it does 2500 points of damage and has a bigger radius. A good tip behind landing these is to try to get 1 barrel around the corner before shooting.

    4. Timing is everything. It takes 2 shots to down with the Gnasher, and due to its natural inconsistency, it's actually a safe bet to run right into a Gnasher user as most of the time, they wait until you're in gib range to start shooting, a mistake since it's not unusual for the Gnasher to only 5-point you and leave them open while they cock the Gnasher.

    5. Angling is also important, and is one of your chief advantages. Wide angles force your opponent to have to turn to shoot you. While you don't turn faster, the wide angle of the gun means you have a shorter distance to turn before you can make an accurate shot.

    6. An interesting tip involving the above tip is coming over cover. If you come right beside your opponent, by spamming the fire button and holding the aiming stick in the direction of your opponent, your character will almost instantaneously body the poor sucker before you even get over the cover good. Of course, there's always the chance that you get bodied yourself before you're able to shoot, so use this as a defensive tactic if you miss the rumble kick.

    7. You have more range than you expect, but less range than you think. Point is, don't worry about the range. Get as close as you can and then take the shot.

    8. Always have an escape route, and use it. This goes with tip #1.

    9. Don't get pressured into Gnasher range, the sweet spot where you're just outside of SO range but still inside 1-2 shot down Gnasher range. If you find yourself in this position, jump back, equip your AR, and either find cover or shoot your way out. Jumping back throws your opponent off balance as puts you closer to your AR's effective range and might drive your opponent to the defensive. This works best with a Retro, but a Lancer could work, too, especially if you get headshots. The Hammerburst is tricky unless you have a fast trigger finger and have fought Gnashers close range before.

That's all I've got. The rest you have to figure out on your own. Perhaps you might even grow to like it, like I did

Tactics for the sawn off? REALLY?
Thats about the funniest thing i have heard all day.

Just point and shoot, have picked this gun up once online and killed 4 peeps with 4 shots.

I do have to point out the the rule #1 that you $%^$'s have, ie dotn stop moving, umm if your not appliying this to your gears playing in general your really doing it wrong.

Constant quick movement should just be how you play normally, not a style for using your noobtube (aka the fart gun , aka SOS).

sorry to troll, but man, SOS tactics!?! I'm nealry in tears.....

Play that newby game Koth. Easy to get SOkills in that. It's pretty boring to play, but you can easily get 20/30 kills.

start playing privates against casual bots...you can blast through them and finish off the medal so you never have to use the gun ever again.

    KOTH
    15 rounds
    240/round
    casual bots
    5 second bleed out
    SOS weapon swaps for everything
    Drydock

Let your bots cap the hill and you should be able to average 50 kills/round. Learn where the other team spawns and how to trap them together before firing the SOS...you can get triples, quads and quinns while doing this. I picked that map because that's the best map I found that forces all of the bots to bunch up in tight groups.
I know there are people better than I am at GOW. I can recognize that I make mistakes. I believe that the people who beat me did so in a fair manner.

Accept the fact that you're not the best in the world and you'll find that blaming your loss on your opponent "cheating" is an impossibility.

Those tactics were really to be used against people who play well
